I am sure you guys remember mahes gunetileke, the best wk one time who unfortunately joined Warnapura and toured SA. i have seen him keep wickets and would you class Prassana with him.
Kalu and Kumar were basically batsmen who kept wickets but if you look around most countries have wk who can bat
dhoni, boucher, gilchrist, kamran akmal and so on. |

At the end of say two Sri Lanka are 485/2. This is awesome batting and the second highest partnership in test cricket. Edited By - Bonggo - 28 Jul 2006 13:04:37 GMT |

Yes, Mahesh was the best. I dont think we had a keeper like him to date. Very unfortunate that he did join the rebel tour. Infact it was said they were the first black team to tour apatheid South Africa. I remember he had mentioned in an interview after arriving back in SL
that if he had known that he would be banned for so long that he would never have undertaken the tour. England who toured before SL had players like graham gooch .. who were banned only for 3 years but allowed to play for their counties. Bandula Warnapura captained the team & also had players like Anura Ranasinghe. a fantastic player. Left arm medium & left handed batsman. he was never the same after he came back & unfortunately he died in the 90's. SL lost many good players, Kaluperuma, Ajith de silva, Anura Ranasinghe, Mahesh Gunatilake, Waranapura ....
Welldone SL & J'dene & S'kara for the record partnership. Hopefully they will continue the good work tommorrow. |

Guru,
Sanga is a batsman as well as a wicket keeper too. He is the second best wicket keeper right now.
Mahesh Guntatilleke was the best keeper we had and he was a good batsman too. Another product of the Central Hills.
He was a much better player than the Prince. |

Wow wonderful batting.
this is probably the second time lanka hasnt lost a wicket in a day. IIRC no other team has done it! can someone confirm this.
prince,
i thought WI toured SA before lanka although i aint too sure. |
