Dear Vimukthi,
My son and daughter sat by me when I was reading your Rap
song. Since I heard them Rapping the Good Friday song - Were you there when they crucified my Lord..... I asked them to Rap your song.
It was easy for them and they told me it is about Trinco getting burnt down, people getting killed and the Leaders are not doing anything about it.
They said many should get to know about this. Thank you for the ( my daughter says) Rappy Rap song.
My son says what up??? Daughter again says Chill man!

Tck,
Yes, you may be right, I just cannot remember the whole song. Do you like their 'Kurumitto' song? In fact its an English chart topper of the 70s sung by Fr.Abrahm 'The Smurfs' translated to Sinhalese.
Btw, tahrumyek madala polima hetiye . Hmmm not sure what you mean? Never mind, it may be a small error somewhere. |

Dr A,
i guess you'll forget sinhala if you start reading my version.
mithurek andagava podi adiyak gavva
the reason for most of the issues!
polima madha hitiyay paduvenavantha
tharumik madha oyata joliyak naththa
this is probably the only song i have translated for my wife. Captures the essence of an average family and their daily issues!! beautiful song.
its on miyuree gee. search by artists and select sunil perera.
song 9 is the one you want.

(you need realplayer to play it)
yes i also like the other song you mentined Kurumitto.
Looks like all our efforts will push it past the century mark. As i said before lets use this thread as a repository for the songs/humour etc and keep the ethnic problem out of this thread. my humble request! Edited By - tamilcanuck - 18 Apr 2006 00:04:30 GM |

Tck,
Thanks mate. I just listened to that song and it reminded me the first time I heard it some time back. Good fun and very true reflection of our wives in Sri Lankan/Asian society I guess we need to listen to them I guess eh :-)
polima madha hitiyay paduvenavantha
tharumik madha oyata joliyak naththa
Btw, It should be little different and should read like this;
Polime meda hitiyata paduwenawada
Tharuniyan (young lassies) meda oyatath joliyak nedda
So I guess I could not figure out your 'tharuniyan' word.
Btw, mate your Sinhalese is more than average I think you can be a Tamil language teacher in Sinhalese schools if you like that :-) Because kids like GSOH and you certainly have that. I'm off catch you later and yes, seems the century is there for the taken. |

Karumeta, oya kata thamuseta lebunata
Me mata hithenawa hatharata iranata
now we know why men open the backdoor first to let the dog in!
rought translation;
husband had a drink and lied to his wife. wife caught him and his angry. wife complains about how much house work she has to do. husband does offer some explanation (usual nonsense!) but that doesnt sit well with the wife.
husband as a last resort says the WIFE has a BIG MOUTH!! |

Pls let us know.
if I remember correctly the wife has the last word, not the husband.
ofcourse the wife has the last word. Anything the husband says after that is the beginning of a new ARGUMENT!! oh the joy of being married! |
