When MR was asked why SB is not release on the independence day, MR told that he can't intervene with the Supreme Court's decision. How can he do that now? He is a liar!

Who punishes the Judges who contempt the Justice? Why two members of the Judiciary Service Commission resigned?

A land or property case take up to 40 years in Sri Lanka. A simple divorce case take up to 10 years. How much damage is done to the citizens by the Sri Lankan Legal system? Anybody think about this? Most of the judges are young and less experienced. They just do the secretarial work. The lawyers have the control of the cases and the court. They drag the case longest possible so that they can earn the maximum.

The courts in Sri Lanka looks like the Auction Market. The Mudali call the case and then the judge give a date for about 50 - 100 cases a day. The poor clients have to pay Rs. 1500 - Rs. 5000 to the lawyer per appearance. Those who have no money just give up. Justice is not served for them. Who is responsible for this? Against whom and in which court the the case can be filed? In the Supreme Court? The Chief Justice will hear the case filed against him?

Those Sri Lankans, who live comfortably in the foreign countries and defending Sri Lanka, don't know about these issues?

The Sri Lankan administration is a totally corrupted one.
They are not even in a position to handle the Garbage. You can see the Garbage on the both sides of the roads all over Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankans who think that every thing is alright in Sri Lanka, why do you live in foreign countries? Here in Sri Lanka every one, Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims etc.. wants to go abroad and going abroad.

So don't argue in the forum for the sake of arguing. Every one knows that Sri Lanka is in a mess. In a decade or two it will become like a central african country.

Can you name a country where Doctors are striking other than Sri Lanka? What can the pregnent woman do when they were about to deliver the baby if the DOCTORS strike? They are not humans. If the Sinhalese DOCTORS behave like that what can you expect from the other professionals?

Vasee, did you know that there is no legal requirement to retain a lawyer for a case? You can argue your own case in any court in the country. Do you know about Nihal Sri Amarasekara who was not a lawyer who fought his own case and won in the District Court of Colombo? There are many others. If any one is dissatisfied with lawyers they can argue the case themselves, there is no restriction.

Also do not put the blame entirely on lawyers for cases getting postponed. There are many reasons such as getting relevent reports and documents from various government departments that cause delay and postponements. Getting witnesses specially state witnesses or expert witnesses (doctors, etc etc)would mean delays as the case has to be fixed on a day suitable to them. Judges get transferred then it takes time for the new judge to familiarise himself with the case that takes time and could be the reason for a postponement. So there are a lot of reasons for cases getting postponed. There are indeed a few lawyers who simply play for time but if a lawyer does that it is upto the lawyer of the opposite side to request costs from the side that seeks the postponement for that day and court would usually grant that request. Another reason is the insufficiency of courts. If you have been to a Magistrates Court anywhere in SL you would see what a lot of cases there are for 'calling' and for 'trial' for one day. More judges and more courts are needed. Funding is the problem for the state.

This rogue should be reimprisoned with the rest of the 225 rogues at the Diyawanna Oya Hotel for what they have done to the country.

Yes Vasee... agree 100% with you. A land case in sri lanka takes more than a persons life to complete. I had a land case that started in 94 and judgment given in 2002 in district court which proved that the land belonged to us but yet we did not have the right to to live in it or sell it.(god knows what that meant). Then the other party could appeal on it too while they had the right to continue to live in the land. (in sri lanka a land appeal case will take a minimum of 8 years to be heard)Which only left us the solution of giving a part of the land which is worth 1.5million. Which we took rather than wait for the supreme court to give us judgment. Our case ended in December 2005. When will these issues come to the notice of the government. (may be once they are done sorting issues like asking the Portuguese to apologies).

When SB was imprisoned he was compared to Nelson Mandela, thats Lanka for you. He created havoc in Wayamba with CBK government. He crossed over to UNP and was taught manners of politics during RW Govt. We have to see which path matters to him upon his release. Possibly, nirwana or nibbana, considering being released on request of the clergy.
