Lord,
What you are suggesting is not 'BUDDHAM SARANAM GACHCHAMI' but 'YUDDHAM SARANAM GACHCHAMI'. |

I can see there are some people who have forgotton about the great history of Sinhale (after-math it was called Sri Lanka).
in great days of sinhala kings , monks were to community leaders ( now Pradesheeya Sabha leaders and Gramasevaka).
Chief Monks were on Defence Staff. Temple was the corner-stone to all activities in the community which lead to a greate way of living to our people those days.
Its time to restore that proud heritage.
and we are doing it right now.
i know some people are not happy with it, but we are not concerned abt their opinions. why ? bacause later they also can enjoy that luxury. |

KULA...excellent comments :)
these monks should try and fix the spiritual side of people rather than getting into politics... We all know if buddhism was practised 'properly'... we won't be here today talking about this :) |

A person ordained as a Bikkhu should practice Ahimsa, Karuna, Metta, and Maithriya towards the fellow humans irrespective of race or religion, not only by words but also in his thoughts and action.
But in Sri Lanka, a Bikkhu is at liberty to engage in racist politics and promote war and hatred as we see today.
Could anybody tell me, in which Buddhist scriptures, Tripitika? Dammapada?, it is mentioned that the Buddhist Bikkhus are allowed to do politics or the Chief monks can act as Defence Staff? |
