Ruwani,

You represent everything which is wrong with Sri Lanka.
You being a big MR fan, would probably call yourself a patriot. Why dont you be a good patriot and think about how you are acting as barier to the development of our country and make yourself scarce? Oh wait, are you the type of patriot who is residing in foreign countries earning dollars, pounds or watever and enjoying the foreign way of living while shouting about matters pertaining to SL? If thats the case, everything is fine. No need to make yourself scarce.

Ruwani,

I dont think all our problems would be solved by pin gona's either. Our country might be better off with einstiens rather than pin gona's. Ever wonder why we are far behind in development? Because our country is overpopulated by motta raala's, starting with the chief of course.

04 February 2006

Dear Minister,

Cease Fire Agreement - Talks with the Tamil Tigers in Geneva

I understand that the Government of Sri Lanka has appointed you to lead the Government delegation to the next round of 'talks' in Geneva. As a Tamil, I seek to share with you, my wisdom, which I believe would be deeply beneficial in helping you appreciate the needs of Tamils.

The Issues on which the Conflict Developed

I believe that majority Tamils believe that Tamils as a minority group were discriminated against in Sri Lanka, primarily by the Sinhalese, on the basis of Race. I believe also, that the two main areas through which the Government of Sri Lanka was seen to participate in this were the Language and the Higher Education issues.

Current Shape of the Conflict - to be connected Back to Base

The problem has now changed FORM through the ethnic war. It is however important, that the Government uses the intellectual path rather than the emotional path in first finding the solutions confidentially. Expressing those solutions ought to be done artfully and not scientifically because of the evolutionary process through which war has taken us. As far as possible, the connection of today's conflict to the fundamental issues must be 'shown' so that Tamils on both sides can invest in Peace rather than war.

An example is that the Army deployed in Tamil areas need to be able to communicate in Tamil. This is a Language issue and NOT a security issue for the current purposes.

Priority approval be given to Tamil areas to set up Institutions of Higher Education on merit basis - especially those with strong International investment. This is a Higher Education issue.

The Spirit of Peace

I do not know the details of the Cease Fire Agreement as it stands now. But I believe I connect to the Spirit of it. Any participant who demonstrates the spirit of Cease Fire is ready for Peace Talks.

The recent incidents in Northeastern Sri Lanka, have indicated to us, the Public, that some members close to the Government or to the Tigers have not realized this Spirit of Peace. I request that every participant in the Talks takes an 'Oath of Peace' before the talks commence, on daily basis.

Allegiance to Ethnic / Common Groups

The next requirement is for each member to declare openly and publicly the group that s/he represents. Members of the Government group for example may need to determine whether they represent the Government or Sri Lankans including the Tigers. Likewise, the Tigers would need to declare whether they represent ALL Sri Lankan Tamils OR some Tamil groups (in which case they need to be named) OR just the Tigers. Foreigners participating in the Talks likewise need to declare whether they are on the side of the Government, the Tigers or the Independent International Community. The 'affidavit' given by the participant must be taken in good faith - without any external proof being required.

Women Representation

Minister, as the country that developed the first Woman Prime Minister and the first Woman President in the world, Sri Lanka has proven its inherent power to be led by FEELERS rather than thinkers. If we were able to overcome gender related discrimination at the highest levels of governance, we would be able to comfortably overcome race related discrimination in governance. I urge that both sides include a female member to represent the women of Sri Lanka. Women are the social power and men need them to be successful . Women also symbolize the mothers who lost their children in the war.

Creating Opportunities out of Problems

Minister, I genuinely believe that Sri Lankans have the ability to turn this problem into an opportunity. All we require to do is stay close to the Truth we know and place on the table our respective valuations of our earned benefits and opportunities that have been / would be denied - in the past for Tamils and in the future for Sinhalese. It is most important that you have a Sinhalese Chauvinist in the Government team - to work this out intuitively. The way it is expressed is the responsibility of the member for Sri Lanka. The International participants need to be observers and moderators and ought not to participate directly in what is expected by the Tamils and what the Government is ready to lose.

Cost / Benefit Analyses & GOODWILL

Each of the proposals submitted must be supported by detailed Cost / Benefit analyses. Otherwise they cannot be allowed into Administrative discussions. Those who seek the power must demonstrate in detail how the system would work and more importantly for the purpose of governance -how they would be administered. Included in Costs and Benefits - must be Goodwill / Status which is a material benefit especially in Public Service. All proposals that are not supported by such Cost / Benefit analyses must be treated as Political proposals - needing express majority backing from the groups that the leaders represent. They represent the collective power of the group ? as expressed by the leader. The proposals that are supported by Cost / Benefit analyses - would lead the Common Administration of Sri Lanka through every individual who feels ownership in Sri Lanka.

Relating to the Customer / Public

Minister, at this stage, your government can relate to the Tamils officially only through the Tigers. Later on, as Trust builds up through Common work, you may be able to relate directly to the Tamils. This is the reversal of the autocratic system using which we see the world first through our parents, gurus and leaders and later when we feel we are able to use the laws independently, directly through ourselves. In a democracy you first see your customers through the deepest investor in your environment and then when you feel you are a customer / public you would not need a specific customer. Some leaders need to go right down to the bottom before they feel they are customers / public. The smarter leader would pick the deepest customer through whom to know the whole group.

Truth / God

Minister, I urge you to use your own inner voice at this point in time and not that of external forces in this issue. We need to start with Truth and gathering Truth must be the sole purpose of this current forum. I believe that the Tigers would do likewise. As a Tamil owner and leader, I expect them to respect my wisdom.

Through this contribution, I indicate my heartfelt support for all those who seek Peace through this path. I believe that all participants in the Peace Forum ' LankaNewpapers.com ' join me in wishing all of you success through the Peace Talks. Once you have our genuine FEELINGS the rest is secondary.

May God's Blessings be with all of you in Common. Truth is God.

Yours sincerely,

Gaja Lakshmi Paramasivam

Being the LTTE as the other party of the agreement, the best peson to head the peace talk is Percy Abeyasekara( the famous cricket fan)

will this talks bring any peace to the country? I doubt very much. The one and only way for peace is defeat LTTE.

I doubt that any decent human being can deal with them except tamils from Jaffna.

One of the essentials in the forthcoming Peace Talks should be the recognition of Truth. Truth is freely known by all who do not have material limitations in the matter. Material limitations give Truth form and we call it facts.

The government has given form to the Higher Education Truth in Sri Lanka through its policy that only 40% of its citizens are Sri Lankans first. The rest identify themselves through their 'local' measures - which includes Race as the second highest measure after Sri Lankan.

This means that at least 60% of Sri Lankan Services are provided subjectively. The percentage is higher at the lower levels of physical service.

Recognition of this FACT as per GOVERNMENT measures is the essential base for any future talks. Without this base, it's a talk on weapons and war under the cover of Peace.
