Berty,
Have you heard the word 'HOPE' when we wished each other we have the HOPE for PEACE.. You seemed to be giving it up easily..
I belong to a generation which has seen the ethnic issue as well as the civil war developing at an unprecedented pace over the last three decades.
I have see the dirty side of the ethnic hatred with my own eyes.
Over that long period, I had hope twice and ONLY TWICE.
First, when Chandrika sent her peace brigade to Jaffna and when I saw what an encouraging welcome they got.
After some time, we threw our Chandrika bangles out together.
Then, like so many in this land (and many out of it) I again had hope when CFA was signed and A9 was open after so many years. This effort too was completely destroyed in the wake of the rise of racism in the post 2003 period.
Yes, I had hope when people like Amirthalingam and Raviraj were alive. Whatever said and done we could talk to them. They did not agree but at least they understood us. Now there is not a single person in LTTE who understand what we speak. Their words are bullets. There is a big difference between Raviraj and Thamilselvan.
Yes, I had hope when the government in South was run by moderates who could climb one step above and see the ethnic issue. Now who do we have? A set of racists who will never understand the aspirations of Tamils (or other minorities.)
So, I am tired. It is too much if you expect me to have hope under these circumstances. Peaceful Sri Lanka, for me is now only a distant dream.
I have almost given up hope now. The last straw was Raviraj's death.

'Hope' is a 'WHEEL'.. not a 'line' or a 'thread'..
You can have HOPE .. it will come round .
(There are plenty of good people, here .. we Sri Lankans deserve it). |

Hey guys,
Why shun the blessings and happiness by HORROR that our President has showered upon all people in our beloved land.
So evidently that he is building a RAT HOLE PALACE in the middle of the city of Colombo spending 400 million.
Enlisted his son in the forces. Many are joining the Piped Piper Yo-removed-ha, to hell, mind you he is only leading the recruits to hell but himself.
Wonderful world, wonderful people, wonderful country
Our land , Sri Lanka.

All forum members,
Wish you happy and healthy, not only the new year, but many more years ahead too!

Losing hope for peace in SL is the most inevitable under the circumstances, but still there are rays of hope! Building trust between the factions should be the priority and racism cannot help that at all. It is futile dealing with terrorists with peaceful means. I don't see why terrorism should not be dealt the way it is done now. The most challenging is not that, but what is going to be done with those who want for real peace! I personally believe that except for the extremists, the others, both Tamils and Sinhalese genuinely look forward to sharing power and responsibilities and I'm still optimistic that an amicable means can be worked out in future. But what I fear is the role played by the IC. If we Sinhalelse and Tamils think of depending on them too much, it will be another flop! Still it will be the greatest challenge for us to develop a model where Sri Lankan interests are dealt adequately, unlike all the strategies worked out previously, including CFA!
I'm still optimistic! |

Not sure whether Fairplay knows anything about Tamils Ellam leader's son.
No need to worry about him. He will rise to the occassion WITHOUT ANY FANFARE. HE IS A PULI KUTTI - A Cub.
This boy will be deployed to play the MENTAL GAME with our political opportunists in the GOSL. You don't always need a muscular, athletic son to set an example as representing the country through your service in the military.
War games are conceived and concluded in rooms, not in the field. Prabha's son will be there...NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!
YOSHITHA is only a signature Patriot. Real ones are dead and still dying only on the PREMISE of patriotism. NO ONE HAS DIED FOR A GENUINE CAUSE. It is a PITY MY FRIEND.
It is like You and I fighting over the boundaries of our fence and killing each other. Sayings of Mr.Raviraj comes to my mind. PISSU POOSSA!!

Tamileealm leader's son and daughter will rise to the occasion when they are needed. I don't think Yositha will ever see war as most of the time he will be based outside the operational areas, this is an eye wash to fool gullible Sinhalese people.
Cheers and Happy New Year to all of you . |
