Revy,
Unless someone did it prior to me, I was the one who asked Nale whether his handle referred to the term NAtional LEader. And then, I'm not a Sinhalese. ;)
Arrr, then my bad, that blows half my theory out of the water LOL.
I just knew someone else gave him the name, but forgot who, so must have been you =) |

i may be a new member, but looking at these posts, i think it is about 50% of tamil members who trying to justify LTTE's existance
So even in our virtual world, the LTTE enjoy more support among Tamils, than the Sri Lankan president does among Sinhala people LOL (of course in reality this support is well over 85-90%)
SO who again is the legitimate representative of whome? |

So democratically elected MR is twice popular than LTTE in LTTE is best case scenario and MR 's worst case scenario.
Sundog, I am talking about the Tamil people, I couldn't give a pair of dingo's kidneys what Sinhala people thought about VP or the LTTE.
They are a more legitimate representative of the Tamil people, than MR is of the Sinhala people, is this too complex for you to understand? |

All,
My New Year wish is that 'May the NEW YEAR not become a NEW TEAR!'
Please forgive me for being negative, on this morning when one should feel so positive. It is not that I do not want 2007 to be a Happy New Year. But if all the odds are against it, should one bother to waste words wishing?
We can have a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR only in a country where there is NO WAR. We cannot have a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR IN A COUNTRY WITH AN ONGOING WAR.
So what is the big idea of wishing everyone Happy New Year, if the next moment we forget all that and start promoting the war? (Even in this thread meant to wish each other in the New Year morning, we see how vicious the comments of some members against the members of another ethnicity have become.)
The brutal civil war in our country had killed more than 60,000 people and has brought unspeakable agony to millions. It has made sure our motherland stay in the middle income category still with no hopes of moving to the category of developing countries in the near future.
War has not brought any glory or prosperity to Sinhalese.
Neither has it brought any glory or prosperity to Tamils, or any other minority communities.
It has only brought us agony, suffering and unhappiness to all of us.
The war further widens the gap between the two main communities in Sri Lanka. It does not create an environment everyone can work together for the development, as a SINGLE SECULAR AND UNITED NATION.
It is crystal clear the only way we can move forward is by join hands leaving aside all our ethnic, religious and caste differences.
I purposely avoid wishing a Happy New Year to ALL, as many have done for a good reason.
I do not wish Happy New Year to War mongers. They are the ones who convert our NEW YEAR to a NEW TEAR.
MY HEARTIEST WISHES IS ONLY LIMITED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN SRI LANKA.
AS FOR THOSE WHO PROMOTE WAR AND ETHNIC HATRED, I JUST WISH THEY MAY HAVE EYES TO SEE THE STARK REALITY.

So Mr. Brown expects our ideas for site improvements.
When I worked as a Systems Administrator many moons ago one of the Golden Rules that I learnt was this:
IF IT WORKS OKAY, FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT MEDDLE WITH IT ANY MORE!
The site it fine, exactly what I wanted it to be so I do not have any ideas for improvements. I have given my own suggestions when it was necessary and I do not see any requirement for further developments right now.
However, I like to present a BUSINESS IDEA for Mr. Brown if he is still listening.
Over the years I have seen, a fantastic software application has been developed to run this forum. Now it is near perfection. I do not see NONE of the forums I use has such a sophisticated and interactive yet extremely user friendly software application.
So what?
So it means it is time for Mr. Brown to finally think seriously about making some money for all the hard work he has done over the years.
Obviously one cannot make money limiting the scope to Sri Lanka, but if I were him, I would try marketing this software to be operated in a different country or different environment. For example, if the same software is used to create something like 'Indianewspapers' or 'USAnewspapers'....I see a HUGE opportunity. I am not kidding.
The moment he sold 'Hotmail' to Microsoft, Sabir Bhatiya too had only a good product. Nothing else. Same with You Tube guys. A killer software application always sells like hot cakes.
So if he is interested, perhaps Mr Brown can be the next Sabir Bhatiya...If I were him, I would give a try.
If I were him, I would also read the excellent article about the You Tube guys in the TIME 'Person of the Year' issue.
(After all, I am a capitalist and I believe in markets, not in charity.)
P.S. If you want any more clarifications, Mr. Brown I am sure you have my email.

Shakthi
So what is the big idea of wishing everyone Happy New Year
Have you heard the word 'HOPE' when we wished each other we have the HOPE for PEACE.. You seemed to be giving it up easily.. |
