Sri Lankan Tamil MPs meet Sri Sri Ravishankar
Bangalore, Dec. 30 (PTI): A delegation of Members of Parliament from Tamil National Alliance (TNA) of Sri Lanka yesterday called on spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar and requested him to use his good offices to prevail on Indian leaders to take up the cause of Tamil people in that country.
'Guruji is a widely-respected global leader and we requested him to persuade Indian leaders and the international community to take up the cause of Tamil people in Sri Lanka,' said Suresh Premachandran, Convenor of TNA, after the meeting.
Responding to the request, Ravishankar appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take immediate action to bring peace in Sri Lanka. 'It is high time for Indian government to play a more proactive role to end conflict in Sri Lanka'.
'The delay in finding a political settlement is costing many innocent lives', he said.
He said India's intervention could help build trust between the Sri Lankan government and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elaam (LTTE) and appealed to both the parties to adopt non-violent means to resolve it, according to a release from the Art of Living Foundation, founded by Ravishankar.
Pointing out that the situation in Northern Sri Lanka is alarming with scarce food supply and skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, he appealed to the international community to rush humanitarian assistance to the affected people.
The TNA delegation accused the Sri Lankan government of delaying the peace talks. 'The government is insisting that the talks can happen only after marginalising LTTE. In the name of marginalising LTTE, thousands of innocent Tamils are being killed everyday', said Premachandran.

BTW didn't he(Ravishankar) come to Sri Lanka recently and visited VP as well?? |

Navy would challenge any of Tamil GOO Terrorists dingies anywhere anytime.For the safety of the ship's crew, Navy has stopped from decimating Tamil GOO Terror Pirates on this occasion.

Now we come to shoe matter,This Broilers do not know,how to wear shoe,because most of this guys were from village level,they never were shoes in their life time,that's why when they were recruited,they are given two days walking practice on the roads.Finally what happened,they are throwing their shoes and escaping.More than quarter of the trained broilers were deserting their posts and running away,after realizing the cruel idea of the government.These are the guys,only responsible for robbries,kidnapping..raping etc..just open the SL News papers and see the actual number of criminal activities done done by this roaming Military deserters..May be you know one side story only..Have you ever heard a LTTE guy do this kind of criminal activities..They are well trained..decent..guys..having a clear idea,what they are doing..But SLF are similar to the the forces of Saddam Hussain who occupied Kuwait,when they enter Kuwait,they start doing such kind of criminal activities ,finally what happened to them, they were chased out...Also the forces of Pakistani who occupied Bangladash..similar story..what I am trying tell is, The Armed forces must be trained for a decent way of behaving..If they behave like the American forces in Iraq..What is the result..They were court Marshaled...Most of SF behaving in a inhuman way, they were not trained properly..only six months training for holding guns..So, what else they can do..What they were taught,they are doing for their 'Pathla Bosses' for contract basics... |

It's always nice to read comments like yours and Mareesa's in that friendly tone! Well done..
The issue here is not only about LTTE, VP or in general terrorism as widely remarked in south. Terrorism is a highly misleading word as it may sway the core issue away from the majority people like it does in SL.
VP's existence with arms, for that matter LTTE's, is only from 1976 and is an outcom of what had happened before. Without solving those core issues and making LTTE a non-entity, the GoSL is trying to address LTTE issue first, which is asburdity at best. As long as the issues for Tamils prevail, there will be LTTE. The core issue I'm quoting here is relating to identifying Tamils as an ethnicity within the Island who has the same rights as any other ethnicity there.
Now you may say that Tamils are being treated equally at present. That would be a joke as there is a military forcibly occupying their homes, lands, places of worships etc. In such a case they would have their grievances and hence the existence of LTTE.
If GoSL is smart enough, it would have attempted to win the hearts of Tamils, which was done by Ranil to some extent. Then came MR, alas, indiscriminate arial bombing, white vans, etc etc.. In such a scenario, Tamils strongly rally around LTTE. What a joke it is that GoSL now says it's bombing innocent civilians to free them from the clutches of LTTE? |

You got me totally wrong! The point I was making was not just about Ranil or MR and in fact I am not a big fan of Ranil either. My point is simply saying that GoSL is fighting terrorism and conducting a state terror campaign is going to alienate Tamil public from GoSL more. Got it?
Whatever MR is achieving now is akin to what CBK achieved at some point during her political career. Has MR achieved anything bigger than the re-capture of Jaffna peninsula that happened during CBK time? A BIG NO! But we all know what happened towards the end of CBK regime, speaking about military achievements.
MR might capture Mavilaru, Sampoor, Vakarai and a Georgetown. But what it would mean in a longer term is a lesson to be learnt from CBK. I have lived in the war-torn area as well as in south to know what the ground realities are. The public sentiments up in the north are not as you wildly imagine. They are not in any need to free themselves from the so called LTTE clutches. For them, getting freedom from an occupying army has been paramount.
As I said above, MR may jolly well capture more towns and suburbs, but the end result could very well be seen from CBK book.

SLA must learn a lesson from Muhamale tragedy and go for final assault when every thing is ready. There must be a strategic plan to capture the remain areas in East and clear land mines. LTTE has been there for the last 15 years and therefore they will not be easily give these bases to SLA.
SLA must consult former senior military officers like major General Janaka Perera before going for final assault.
