Pakistan in allegedly supplying defective arms-reports
People like Anud, this is a fiction story, because their brain is same as Pakistani supplied stones,it will never work.
If go back from Independence of Pakistani, this country has been ruled mostly by Military Generals also very few civilian rulers, where are these Bhutto and Nawz Sharif, all hiding in different countries..Why?
People like Anud should think ..not using stones..
How?, Pakistani got their Nuclear Bomb, they have the story of biting the hand of the people who fed them? The people of Netherlands knows..
The People of Pakistani were Internationally black listed because of their behavior..If people have wider knowledge about this country.. can understand this truth..Because India refuse to sell arms to SL our politicians holding the tail of Pakistani for kick backs and gifts..It is painted as a Muslim country, but what they are doing International Community knows this fact very well..
If I start listing what they doing to to destabilizing the world, this page in not enough..
Simply says,In the middle eastern countries,Pakistanis were branded as theifs..what else the evidence people wants?
The snake only knows..the leg of his..
So,both thief got collaborated and stealing the peoples money- as I mentioned before, very soon, there will a Sri Lankan listed in world richest list..
Not only the military hardware, but also what ever the Pakistan is exporting to other countries, all are low grade garbages, only countries like Sri Lanka buying this..nobody else..who knows there is another sister country of Pakistain..Bangladash..worse than the other..may be our politicians were camping there?
What about Maldives? Are they selling arms? What about the percentage? These are questions our politicians and Army dealers ask before boarding the flight..Good questions..keep filling your deposits..Alibaba and multi-thief's carry on..no speed breaker for you..
But it is very sad to hear...our hard earn dollars were spent on buying garbage..So, it is well known fact..this stones cannot kill even a dog..only used for cows and pigs..Well done stone head fellows...keep on reading..your 'Maha Wansa...Jayawewa..If Buddah is still alive..he will eliminate all of our politicians by using Pakistani stones.. |

No way. Our Noothana Dutugamunus and Walagambas do not take even a cent from public money. they are very honest. This writer must be crazy. GOSL and SLDF never misused any public money for this war. LOL.

All Patriotic Guys in this forum*
Now that the UNP is getting on its feet again, this green lot, with Ranil in front, will try to sabotage whatever plans GOSL have in order to kick the life out of the LTTE. This being their natural behaviour, we can not do much about that. But, friends, there is one thing we can do. We, as patriotic men and women of Sri Lanka, can try to do our part by ensuring this Mahinda-Gotabhaya-Sarath-Keheliya foursome continue their applaudable effort in defeating the LTTE and whacking them off this island. So, each and everyone of you, my friends, please do your best to educate our young voters and our parents, brothers and sisters, of the danger prevailing in the country. The UNP will happily dfeat the GOST at the very first opportunity they get, Cos all they care about is power. They don't give a damn for the country (except a few patriotic UNP MPs). So, this danger is there. Therefore, in case of a sudden election in the country, we should act as one force to give this top 4 officials some more time to work their plans out and whack the LTTE for good. So, let us begin by educating our neighbours enough of this danger and appeal them to vote without thinking party politics. Let them realize that the Country comes first and Blue, Green or Red comes after that. Let us make oour own little effort to do this safeguard the future of Sri Lanka. At this hour, we need to be so prepared for any eventuality in the face of NGO/UNP coups against the GOSL. Let the crazy, power-greedy politicians weave their plans, let us be ready. It is now or never. |

Alleged move to arrest Editor
Concerns that prevailing anti-terrorism laws could be used to suppress the media heightened yesterday amidst reports of alleged Government moves to arrest The Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickramatunga over the contents of a lead story in his newspaper last Sunday.
Mr. Wickramatunga yesterday charged that the Defence Ministry had ordered the CID to arrest him under recently introduced anti-terrorism laws, for the lead story headlined ?President to get Rs. 400 million luxury bunker? in the Christmas Eve issue of The Sunday Leader. The arrest was to be made on national security concerns.
He said the CID had consulted the Attorney General on the legality of such an arrest to which the AG had responded in the negative.
?The Attorney General reportedly told the CID it was completely illegal to arrest me under such charges as I had not violated the law and the regulations did not apply to such situations,? he told journalists who had gathered at The Sunday Leader office in Ward Place.
Mr. Wickramatunga charged that despite this, the Defence Ministry had ordered the CID to bypass the AG?s ruling and arrest him. He said to the best of his knowledge the Defence Ministry order was not a written one but a verbal notification.
Mr. Wickramatunga also made special reference to an article carried in the front page of the State run Daily News yesterday. The report headlined ?Talking point: Sleeping with the enemy? which asked why the AG was not taking action againstThe Sunday Leader for allegedly causing dissension among security forces.
?I will face this crisis. I am not going to seek refuge in hospital. I will not go abroad or go into hiding. I am ready to face this head-on and live up to The Sunday Leader motto of ?unbowed and unafraid? ?, he said.
The Editor said he was being persecuted because his paper regularly exposed Government corruption and the abuse of State power. He charged that the motivation of the anti-terrorism laws was not to combat terrorism but to suppress media freedom and the South.
?This is a signal to the South that the country is going back to the terror era. As far as I know no terrorist has been arrested under these laws?, he said.
?I am not surprised this is happening?, he added, joking that never before has he received so much media attention.
?If arrested I will file a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court? he added.
Commenting on the story which sparked the controversy, Mr. Wickramatunga said he had followed Government directives to clarify all security related stories from either the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Government media spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella or the Media Centre for National Security Director Lakshman Hulugalle.
Accordingly Mr. Wickramatunga had reportedly called Mr. Hulugalle to clarify the presidential bunker story. Although Mr. Hulugalle denied any knowledge of the bunker, he had assured The Sunday Leader Editor that no action would be taken against the newspaper if such a story was reported.
?He categorically said no action would be taken against us and we quoted him in the article?, Mr. Wickramatunga said.
However he charged that the CID later informed him of the arrest.
?I called Mr. Hulugalle who said he knew nothing about moves to arrest me. He said he would get back to me regarding the matter, but never did? he said.
Mr. Wickramatunga?s lawyer, former National Police Commission head Ranjth Abeysuriya told the Daily Mirror that the new anti-terrorism regulations allowed the Defence Secretary or a police DIG to issue detention orders for an arrest. However Mr. Abeysuriya said the reasons for such an arrest would have to be justified before the Supreme Court.
Lasantha Wickramatunga?s brother Lal Wickramatunga, who is also Chairman of Leader Publications, alleged that the order to arrest his brother came directly from Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. He said the CID had called at about 3 in the afternoon yesterday to say the arrest would be made at 5 in the evening. However he refused to disclose the identity of the CID officers saying that doing so would result in them losing their jobs.
Amidst the chaos in his office, Mr. Wickramatunga received a multitude of phone calls last evening from international news services, fellow newspaper editors, media activists and diplomats.
Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) Director General Ranga Kalansooriya said Editors, journalists and media activists met three days after the new laws came into effect, to study whether they could be used to suppress the media.
He said they wrote to Media Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa calling for a meeting to clarify the matter, but two weeks had passed with no word from the minister.
?We have not received any clear guarantee from the Government that the regulations would not be used against the media. There have not been any deliberations between the Government and the media on the matter?, he said adding that the SLPI?s intention was to include journalists into section 19 of the regulations, which identify parties against whom the legislation cannot be used.
?Whether it is The Sunday Leader or the Sunday Observer these regulations become an impediment to the media?, he said adding that three journalists working for the State press had already been questioned by the CID, and now the private media were being threatened.

Asithri,
DO NOT BELIEVE THIS STORY! THIS IS ALL A COOKED UP YARN TO DEMORALIZE OUR FORCES AND BRING DISCREDIT TO MR GOSL WHICH IS DOING A GOOD JOB OF KICKING LTTE IN THE TEETH!
I just got off the phone with a very..yes, 'very very' at that...high ranking SLAF commander and he said that this is all a story of 'psy ops'...!
This is so funny and so sweet to see how the Singhalese are consoling each other,I guess, it's kind of a group therapy. The fact is the Singhala racists are in denial and they are talking as if this type of scandal is new to the Singhala Sorry Lanka.
The Mahinda and his brother's mission is to loot enough money and settle down in the US. Last year, Kothabhaya only had one gas station in Los Angeles and now he owns two more, but how did he earn enough money in one year? The evidence is in the Pakistan's arms deal.
Did any Singhala leader genuinley care about the country? If they had, then we wouldn't be in this despicable condition. The racist, power hungry, greedy Singhala leaders pushed the Tamils, who aksed for mere district councils to take the arms.
Yep, Bala the Paraballa was a total farce...but he was a cunning fox who was clever enough to hoodwink the gullible IC at every turn by hiding LTTE's real agenda and also cover up for LTTE's atrocities. I certainly would not call this rascal 'Doctor'....becos he gave himself a doctorate!
I thought, Asithiri is an educated guy, but he acts like a Singhala racist thug. Dr. Anton Balasingham didn't lie about his doctorate like aunti Chandrika lied about her Doctorate and your Modabakse got his law degree in Sri Lanka, where Singhalese get into University with low marks.
Dr. Anton Balasingham has completed his doctorate in London and he was a Professor at a University in London, England.
I don't think the European Universities employs people without checking their credential like in Sorry Lanka. Even the African Zulu Lulu University won't employ Mahinda Modabakse with his Sri Lankan Law degree.
It is ok to be jealous of a Tamil intellect like Dr. Anton Balasingham, but your nasty comments make you look too much of a 'petty'kfir.
I must go now, keep your reply for tomorrow, ok. LoL Edited By - Thivya - 29 Dec 2006 06:53:17 GMT |

This explains the defense allocation in the budget. Gravy train is so good these politicians and key personnel will make in one year what others before them made in ten years and to top it off will get a ambassador position.

This is a 'garbled' story .. does not 'hang together' very well. Poor quality reporting.
Strictly, all 'iron bombs' fall like 'stones' .. due to gravity. But they have an ogival nose, a stream-lined shape, and a tail-fin - as a result, they do not 'tumble' .. comes down 'nose' first.
Obviously, some few have failed to explode .. and this would have been of concern to the SLAF. Most likely .. fuse/primer failure. Bombs may be 'old stock' .. but they will explode if the fuses 'work'. SLAF can demand 'fresh' fuses (of recent manufacture), are supplied in future .. or, they can purchase the fuses separately, from another source. (These are standardised armaments .. spare fuses available from many sources. Installation of fuses is done locally .. done just prior to bomb-loading, on to aircraft).
If there were problems .. they would have been addressed, some time ago. Edited By - SenaM - 29 Dec 2006 07:14:06 GMT |
