I am a Royalist too.I grew in South closely with many Tamils families in my neighborhood. But southern Tamils never had issues unless they were forcibly made to participate in violence by radical Tamils from the North. If you look at the history it is self explanatory.I am definitely not a fan of separatism. Jordanian ship's crew accuse Tigers of 'piracy'
by Amal Jayasinghe
COLOMBO (AFP) - The crew of a Jordanian cargo ship accused Tamil Tiger rebels of piracy, saying the guerrillas had attacked their vessel after it developed engine trouble near a militant-held area.
The rebels -- in six boats -- surrounded the Farah III and fired into the air as they boarded the vessel on December 23, Captain R. Abdullah said.
'This was an armed attack. This is piracy,' Abdullah told a news conference here.
After boarding the ship, the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) tried to blow up the cable anchoring the Farah III but failed, he said.
Six guerrillas then ordered the 25-member crew off the ship into rebel boats and removed all communications equipment, charts and radar equipment from the Jordanian vessel, he said.
The crew of 13 Jordanians and 11 Egyptians, skippered by Abdullah, an Iraqi national, arrived here late Monday.
They said the rebels had held them after forcing them off their ship.
Abdullah denied rebel claims that the Tigers had rescued the crew and had tried to help them to repair their engines.
'They did not try to help,' Abdullah said, adding the gunmen had fired four times into the air in a bid to scare his crew.
The ship was carrying a cargo of 14,000 tonnes of rice bound for Durban, South Africa.
The ship's managers, the Amman-based Arab Shipping Co, valued the cargo at 10 million to 12 million dollars.
The Tigers made the crew get into small speed boats, which raced through choppy seas, Abdullah said.
Egyptian second officer Shareef Mohamed Mustafa, 30, hurt his back during the fast ride and was in a wheelchair at the news conference.
'They pushed us onto the floor of the boat and travelled at high speed. When the boat hit waves we were tossed about. I injured my back,' he said. |

As we anticipated Tamil GOO Terrorists painted a beautiful story when they realized that the ships captain was too quick to press the Armed Pirate Attack Button.
Now I wonder what will the Tamil GOO terrorists will come up with to cover the cover story of truth. Is it Rescue by force or pure armed Piracy? How come everything that Tamil Terrorists comes up with proves untrue, the natures way.
More like Wanni is short of food and fuel and scrap metal and finally International sympathy.I think they got one now.
Oh the crew has done shopping in Kilinochchi with the credit that terrorists provided.Nice one for staging. |

The Singhala psychophants are trying to project Mahinda as the next Dutu Gemunu, but the reality is, that man is scared to death of mere mention of LTTE. He is building a luxury bunker at a cost of more than 500 million rupees. I think, from now on we should call this tin pot dictator and his mafia gang of brothers as Bunker pigs.
Can you believe this 500 million rupees bunker for a poor country's president, while more than half of the population goes to bed with an empty stomach. Use of such bunkers by heads of the state are not common, and the Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler used one in Berlin. If Mahinda is a democratic leader with a powerful army, as the Singhala punnaakku lovers brag about in this forum, then why does he need a bunker?
The Tamils are dying to safeguard their homeland, where they and their forefathers have lived and fought to defend it for centuries from the Singhala aggression but sons and daughters of poor Singhala farmers are dying in this unjust war against their own countrymen, while this tin pot despot wants a luxury bunker.
Can't he manage with a pig stall instead and use that money to rescue the Singhala children from the clutches of foreign intimacyual deviants on the beaches of Sri Lanka? Edited By - Thivya - 26 Dec 2006 14:55:10 GMT |
