As always, you continue to make two errors in judgement;
1. assume too much regarsding how Karuna may act and what he may recieve suddenly and without warning
2. conveniently bundle 'tamils' with LTTE as an already defunct political slogan.
The game is about to become completely different.
I am not talking about defeat for anyone. Not unless you are a racist who believes in ethnic cleansing of others.
I also think there will be substantial devolution of power to provincial levels. In the after glow of a successful military campaign it will be much easier for the govt to do that, overcoming the opposition that is t be expected from the JVP/JHU lunatics. |

Until political situation change, LTTE will not move his politics, it's like a party of chess.
Political solution or not, Velu cannot lay down the gun. He will die by the hands of the tamils themselves, for he has committed more attrocities to them than anyone else.
That reality is very well factored in to not only the SLG's thinking, but the Indians and the whole world, when it comes to dealing with the LTTE. This guy is a living cancer, and that fact is now very well understood. |

Political solution or not, Velu cannot lay down the gun. The reason for taking arms was to check the excesses of GoSl committed against Tamils and to force it to seek a solution. If you listened to his pre-Nov 06 speeches he always said he was looking for a negotiated autonomous body as a solution to the conflict. After the Tamil democratic leaders were deceived by successive GoSLs he and many Tamils always thought Sinhala elitists will never agree to a genuine resolution. But to convince the IC he had to go along but we are no nearer to to any solution that will function itself so the ground reality insist on the necessity of carrying arms.
US will always side with the non-red establishment to safeguard their own interest. US has forgotten that it took arms to liberate themselves from colonialist British.
Other countries want both parties to come to a settlement. So long as GoSL sign agreements but not honour them there is no point in talking or singing agreements as VP made it clear in his last speech. We have to take this message across to the IC to convince them that GoSL is not interested in any solution. Tamils are succeeding slowly in this difficult task, we are confident we will get there.
assume too much regarsding how Karuna may act I am not in forecasting, only referreed to Karuna's demand only once. Tamils are invariably lumped with LTTE as GoSL starve Tamils to punish LTTE and bomb them to annihilate LTTE and so on.

I too believe that LTTE killed more Tamils than Singhalas I asked the question, 'What happened to those children arrested by SLA to force them as recruits for Karuna group?' Have you got an answer or just playing the record given to you by your pay masters?
You can believe anything that depends on shallow/depth of your knowledge.
Do you know when did this ethnic problem started and how?
Do you know how many times Tamils were shipped to Batticaloa and Jaffna from the South before 1983?
Do you know when LTTE was founded?
Do you know how much MI paid to Karuna to lure him to defect?
How did his wife got her 25million she deposited in the bank in Feb 2005?

The US remembers how much harder it was to prevent the union from falling apart and how many lives it cost to bring it back together, and today, how much that investment has proved to be worth.
