SF,
i strongly suspect that the ltte will launch an attack to distract
This has been their MO throughout history. I am sure they will attempt the north somewhere again as they know the monsson rains put the army in a disadvantage. |

Rapaport,
Yes I wonder if mad velu has ever been to the east or even kandy or colombo or any other place in the south?! I wonder if it is his lack of any personal contact with any sinhalas which has made him go to the extreme. Edited By - forest - 14 Dec 2006 14:07:01 GMT |

SpecialForce,
i strongly suspect that the ltte will launch an attack to distract the oporation and alo there are itel reposrts of a heavy ltte buld up in pooneryn and about an attack on jaffna...!
Yes SF. I think using Pooneryn is the most likely path for the LTTE offensive..It is dangerously close to Jaffna..May be they want to squeeze the SLA from 2 fronts... |

Sri Lanka Army troopers attacked a convoy of wounded LTTE cadres transported by the LTTE medics from Vaharai to LTTE controlled Karadiyanaru for medical treatment via sea route Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m. SLA sources said 5 Tigers were killed and a wounded Sri Lanka Army soldier, K.M.S. Ratnayake, who was in the LTTE custody since 08 October and being transported by the Tiger medics, was captured. Meanwhile, LTTE's Military Spokesman Irasiah Ilanthirayan said the SLA has attacked an unarmed medical transport and described the attack, a 'cowardly act.'
'Wounded LTTE fighters and a wounded Sri Lanka Army man were being transported our medics,' Mr. Ilanthirayan said.
'Also, a group of civilians who wanted to move out of Vaharai but not to a Sri Lanka Army controlled territory, were sent in the medical transport,' he said.
The ICRC has contacted the LTTE and informed that the dead bodies were taken to Valaichenai hospital and wounded were admitted to Batticaloa hospital, according to the LTTE military spokesman.
The Tigers were awaiting further details, he said.
According to SLA claims more than 9 were wounded in the attack. Five were killed and the wounded SLA soldier was freed.
The attack has taken place at Miyankulam area in Batticaloa district.
i dont thini the ltte was stupid enough to take a POW inwith unarmed cadres...what the forces attackes was a ltte group and rescured the cadre...
the drama of the things sujjests that the atack must have been carried out by the commandos or the special forces
and see you guys im off...! Edited By - specialforce - 14 Dec 2006 14:07:22 G |

Thank for commendation. Many join these rebellious groups due to lack of any other opportunities. Leader of such groups smartly prey on the most vulnerable like vultures. For example, they will target the survivors of families whose bread winners died due to war, may from errant SLA fire. They exploit the anger and vulnerability of these kids and then program them like robots to go with suicide jackets to blow themselves up. War funding diaspora folks are cohorts in this crime. Ajan or somebody called them sometime back as 'disposable' cadres. As responsible people, we should pry them out of warlord grip and give them a chance to become successful citizens. Dewey,
I think the diaspora, they are the biggest problem. The vulnerable tamil people in the NE are sadly getting caught up in the war which I am sure they don't want. The diaspora won't let the tamils living in sri-lanka come to a political settlement with the SLGovt which I am sure they want to do. The diaspora won't let them and just keep supporting mad velu, tamil sellam and the LTTE gang. |

Mad Velu used to come to colombo in his younger years to see his girl friend who was working at Maharaja textiles.
He killed her because she was talking too much, he was uncomfortable about that. He thought that she was talking about his bloody ventures of killings. |
