VAKARAI FROM NORTH TO SOUTH IS about 50 km.DO you think
that for the entire length there is only one line of defence .SPECIAL force go ask sinhala villages at mahindapura what happened to sla on saturday at echilampattu.50 killed and 8 captured .2 years no action
in east by ltte says special force ,but fonseka says only
400 ltte in east and took you 3 months to capture a first
line of defence in your dream |

Hey it took only 2 years for the KARUNAS men to dismantle LTTE in the EAST.

Folks here is the update on the east...
about one month back the defence authorities were planning a heavy offensive in the east south of sampoor to flush the ltte pockets out of the southers trinco and to then clense the east along with the progressinve forces of the soil...
as a prelude to that plan a certain number of special forces ranger units which is also known as the DPU were deplyed /smuggled into the area in advance and were to offer valuable intel and attack oporations in the general area of vakarai before the ground offensive began...
the offensive which was in the planning stages for many days was delayed many a time despite the heavy presence of the special forces due to various politico/military reasons...the ltte was well informed about the impending offensive wre making hectic preparations to counter it withmoves on the lines of deplying heavy arti and concentrating civilians close to hot spots as a detterent...
special forces ranger units killed close to 5 top ltte cadres in their initial deplyment in the east...
lt col arivu charles was one along with area leader for wakarai and intel leader of trinco...the ranger units also attacked ltte movments and bases deep inside enemy territory and rescued one POW ...estimates with the special forces say that close to 60 ltte cadres were taken on by the ranger units oporating in the east. along with the special forces the karuna faction also lay ambush in batty side...thier attack details are not known...following weeks of intelligence the ground oporation began...the forces under took mock advances which were heavily resisted by the ltte forcing a change of plan in the the early stages as casualties of the forces were more than expected...
special forces wi8ll not reveal on this forum the routes that were taken and the mock lines but will say that the real ground offensive took the ltte off guard in total...
in a desperate attampt to reverse it the ltte attacked the settlement around the liberated areas and forces thousonds of sinhalse to flee and at the same time launched a fierce arti attack with 152 arti on the forces defences...
the retaliatory fire caused many civilians deaths...int eh intial forces advance they captured close to 3 km of land beloging to the ltte...on the second stage on a different direction they captured close to 5kms and in amid heavy fighting ltte withdrew abandoning thier most fortified and secured seond defence lines in a desperat bid to withdrw fron the area...forces are consolidating newly captured land and the special forces are still on the move...
the forces have sorrounded the ltte on three fronts and there is very little space for the ltte move about freely...close to 350 ltte cadres have been kiled in frish fighting and close to 70 troops have died in battle...the ltte area commanders know that karuna faction will attack them from batty area along with special forces inside and the military cordon around...
battle lines and fate is pretty much on the wall...
ltte area commanders are requesting permisson to withdraw but have been rejected by the wanni high comman...there also is a sea cordon [preventing a sea movment and thus they remain more or less sorrounded on all fronts...
the ltte had havey arti and motar rounds working and the air force was called on to tackle the issue...
wil have more upadates tomorrow folks as its time for me to go...
east ern front of wakarai will fall whithin the next 15 days...!
