Swastica , i like your Po-da.... lol
LTTE have lost jaffna and would have captured jaffna just after elephant pass.
but srilankan government quick to beg international community.
what you all forgot was how quick srilankan president begged india to save those troops in jaffna. and india saved those life and Ordered srilanka to go for talks.
it is typical of sinhalese to put trust of ponseka and all those mad dogs.
if you talk to marketing person he will say he can make you sell millions of it.
but you cannot build your budget with his comments only. need to check realities.
i have travelled to jaffna few months ago and i can confirm to you LTTE can capture Jaffna at any choosen time. but LTTE are careful about taking decision.
for example we all said why didnt LTTE capture jaffna months ago . and we blamed tigers , now its clear why LTTE waited.
if they had capture jaffna International community will presure Tigers to come back to the line.(CFA). if they didnt they they will be portraid as bad guys.
now
sampoor was let to catch by srilankan army. ( LTTE spokemen said it was a strategic withdrawal )
IF Tigers libarate jaffna double faced IC cannot presure tigers.
Your sinhala leaders are falling in every trap put by tigers.
i can confirm in confident Tigers are 100 times stronger that before.
i can assure you srilankan government cannot defeat Tigers.
yesterday Ponseka confirmed he choosed military path.
and thanks to him. LTTE can now do something to justify his claim.
here is a interesting article for you to read.
By V. S. Sambandan
COLOMBO, APRIL 23.2000 An estimated 14,000 Government troops pulled out of Elephant Pass and Iyakachchi in the Jaffna peninsula, to fortify Jaffna town against a sustained attack by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
In a communique, the Defence Ministry said security forces ''relocated their defences in the northern sector of Elephant Pass'' and simultaneously ''vacated the southern defences'' of the vital Army complex to ''make sure of the security of Jaffna.'' Severe fighting is reported from Soranpattu, Settikadu and Massar in the Peninsula.
The Tiger flag was reportedly raised at the Elephant Pass complex. Citing LTTE officials, the TamilNet said the flag was hoisted by a senior LTTE commander.
One hundred and twenty eight soldiers and 162 militants were reported killed and over 600 soldiers injured in the battles, the Defence Ministry said. The latest acquisition of the vital bases effectively swings the situation in favour of the rebels.
Jaffna town, the epicentre of the decades-long conflict, has come into focus. With Elephant Pass now under the control of the Tigers the next step, observers feel, would be the takeover of Jaffna town and the Peninsula.
''A likely scenario is that the Tigers could move further in the Peninsula, confining the Army to the barracks,'' an analyst said, pointing out that the''low morale of soldiers'' would work in their favour. ''They would demarcate new defence lines and continue with their thrust towards Jaffna.''
Political analysts are of the opinion that with the fall of Elephant Pass, the time has come for looking beyond military developments.
Mr. Kethish Loganathan of the Centre for Policy Alternatives says the present setting ''is the most convenient for both the Government and the LTTE to agree upon cessation of hostilities as a prelude to a more permanent ceasefire, paving the way for negotiations.''
Sinhala hardliners, who have been calling for stepping up the offensive against the Tigers have not yet reacted to the latest and most serious reversal of the Army.
AFP reports:
The United National Party (UNP), Sri Lanka's main opposition party, called today for an emergency session of Parliament to discuss the massive rebel onslaught that forced thousands of troops to retreat amid heavy casualties.
''The situation is so grave that we must have an emergency meeting of Parliament to discuss the tragedy at Elephant Pass,'' UNP spokesman, Mr. W. J. M. Lokubandara said.

Say something sensible..SLMM monitors declared that LTTE offensive in August was a well planned millitary operation to capture the entire Jaffna penisula...SLA succefully repulsed it. We cannot expect zero casualities within SLA. This is a costly war but terrorism has to be defeated.
Atleast 1000 LTTE'S were either killed or wounded...
There will be another attempt but SLA is ready for anything...
We won't say that this is the LTTE's last stand in the east, but begining of the end perhaps ..That is for sure...Keep dreaming..Go and sleep now so tomorrow comes early..
That failed LTTE operation proved one thing, LTTE won't wage war without KARUNA. It reminds me the famous saying that, ARABS won't wage against ISRAEL without Egypt.
If I added something more...LTTE won't setup EALAM without INDIA central governments help..However if India helped the seperation and succeds, then I guess, Sri Lankan government has no other option but to ask CHINA to come and establish a fully fledge Millitary garrison in the South of the country..I guess they are already here and are building the Hambantota harbour as a first step..Intresting...That way Sri Lanka can keep the Tamilnadu at bay..Sorry India... Are you sure that you can count? If you can count correctly, you will know that more Tamils have been killed by their saviour terrorists than GOSL! Also your saviours have killed able Tamils leaving behind the stupid ones, as these Tamils are the only ones who support their terror! |
