The National Patriotic Movement (NPM), a broad coalition of extreme Sinhala Buddhist nationalists, held a protest meeting at Lipton Circle Monday at 3:00 p.m. demanding the Sri Lanka government to proscribe the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and to abrogate the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) entered into with the LTTE. Wimal Weerawanse, parliamentary group leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), a constituent of the NPM, warned that failure to meet the demands would result in a public agitation against the government, sources in Colombo said. - Tamilnet

Ban or not will not change the activities of LTTE. Just do it the way you are doing it now. Things will be fine soon. Edited By - Freelancer - 11 Dec 2006 17:55:41 GMT |

President says Rajapakse Bros will take up the fight
Calling for LTTE ban
Be that as it may, by December 2 the President had also sent word out to his allies and confidants to plaster the walls of Sri Lanka calling for the LTTE's ban, thereby hoping to condition public opinion on the new regulations being purely to combat terrorism in keeping with the people's demand. It was also intended to convey the message to the international community that despite calls for banning the LTTE, he was only introducing emergency regulations. As long as the pariah state is going to depend on these rowdies in robes to conduct the war and politics, they are doomed.

You don't have to worry about our religion. Why don't you go and worship your Elephant and sit on Rama's lingam. Edited By - Ruwani - 11 Dec 2006 18:09:37 GMT |
