Yah everyone has the proper burial rights but not the terrorists, as long as they are enemies of the Sri Lankan State then Government has the right to refuse them their burial as they wish. This is normal practice in Japan, America, Russia, etc. If you want to show your pure sympathy to terror then you may want to recheck your principles. |

This was an unnecesary course of action - asides to the sacrilegous aspects of desecrating a grave/graves, at the end of the day one must consider this is not an alien army invading our country. These were people who were born (and died) in Sri Lanka
As such, them being Sri Lankans (misguided or not depending on ones view point), their final resting places should be respected - no matter the course of action or beliefs which led to them being there. These were sons of the soil.
Further these war cemetaries would be a good reminder for future generations, about the sheer senselessness and futility of war and should remain as a warning from the past, how prejudice, lack of understanding etc. led to this sorry state of affair with brother killing brother.
However I will say the same courtesy should never be extended to VP, Balasingham and Tamilselvam come the day they meet their maker. |
