| | The Heroes` Day statement made by V.Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman , Leader of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal. Monday, 27 November 2006 - 4:09 PM SL Time | | | [Monday, 27-11-2006, 05:30 GMT]
Today is our Heroes Day. While paying my humble homage to our Maveerer ? Great Heroes, who had made their supreme sacrifice in the quest for our people`s rights and their existence as peaceful people leading contended lives, I wish to discuss some important issues and put into sharp focus some aspects that needed to be addressed with an open mind.
We, today, bow our heads in reverence of all those who had entered the battle-field with heroism writ large on their faces and hearts, with no concern whatsoever for their lives, and personal comforts, and with the singular objective of justice for our people and in the cause of ethnicity. Brave people are these warriors, and their heroic fetes will be recorded in golden letters in the annals of our history to inspire generations to come. Neither time nor history will deny them their honorable due nor will they be forgotten as footnotes to history. I have, absolutely, no doubt, whatsoever. It is our bounden duty to honor these martyrs who have made us all proud. Take it from me these Maveerers will always be honored. They have to be honored for the path they have shown us. Sadly, their heroism has become cannon fodder to satiate the publicity hunger of one individual. Just one individual and his lust for power and craving for autocratic life style! Prabakaran, the demoniac, is doing his damnedest best to cash in on the single minded devotion, dedication and sacrifices of our Maveerers as propaganda ploy. What a shame?
Prabakaran and his gangs coming forward today to hail our legendry heroes, who had fought against tremendous odds and acute discomfort for the rights and welfare of our people, amount to vulgarizing heroism. I cannot stomach this duplicity, this shameless merchandising of our heroes` legacy and turning sacrifices made by our brethren into business and advertisement as some tradable commodities. Heroes are sold for Prabakaran`s terrorist activities. To help him lead luxurious life, my dear.
This is a travesty. I am concerned. Because it is trivializing history, heroism, and sacrifices. I am pained to see all those who should be worshipped by being placed on a high pedestal are being trivialized, made to feel and look insignificant non-entities. Their sacrifices are vulgarized. Just to extol the birth day of one individual and to sign paeans to his glory. And today he stoops to seize the sacrifices of thousands of heroes to pump prime his own vanity. This cannot go on. It must be stopped? this recalling of their supreme sacrifice to promote the terrorists and autocrats. The death of the great heroes is history. Their fair name should not be allowed to be sullied by a self- seeking, self-serving individual.
Cowardly and treacherously, numerous cadres have been killed for Prabakaran`s and his gangs` safety, long after our separation, and our split. Because of noble goals and precious aims are thus abused in the most treacherous manner, we are today in the battlefield.
What is the big contributory factor blocking our people`s march to lead lives without fear and intimidation? Prabakaran unhesitatingly! His autocratic haughty life style and his killing spree. For an individual`s survival and for his power hungriness our nation has lost several academics, many religious leaders and a large number of civilians. Time has come to end the brutal and senseless mayhem. Everyone should come forward to stop this deplorable situation being continued for ever. Heroes` day for Prabakaran is an occasion for empty rhetoric, to boast his humbugging heroics. His announcements of war and his declaration of war remain as empty words, not deeds. In the last Heroes` Day speech he announced of giving a short period of time to Sri Lanka`s President Mahinda Rajapakse and haughtily declared that if there was no solution within that prescribed period, he would go unleash a bloody war. What happened to that short period of time? It seems that the short period of time has not expired as yet. All of us are also aware of the heroics of those who had declared that they would capture Jaffna within just three days.
Those who had failed to comprehend the meaning of patience have now come to terms with it after our departure. Of late, even the Tiger members have lost confidence in those meaningless utterances of Prabakaran.
Tigers` rank and file are frustrated. It is natural when confrontations take place without any strategy and when defeat is inflected due to unavailability of proper leadership and direction. The state of affair is clear from the steady increase in the cadres leaving the Tiger formations, returning to their homes, swelling our ranks or surrendering to the Government security forces. Tigers are counting their days as they are rudderless with no air or strategy.
Consider the Tigers` setback in the East. It clearly brings into sharp focus the flux in Tigers domain. The Tigers have been squarely rejected in the East. What is left for them in the East? Just three villages! Simply three villages! They will be defeated and ejected from these three villages soon. The East would be soon brought under our control. Time has come to rid those who occupy our soil. Time is nearing to end atrocities being inflicted on our people.
After that, without any let or hindrance we will take forward our endeavor politically to fulfill our basic issues and aspirations of our people. Today our cadres have shattered the opposition put forward by enemies and traitors with the help and support of our people and we are marching forward. Our people have already crowned us as their representatives.
To achieve this position, pain and losses in which we trod were huge. We are fully aware that the path which we intend tread is not spread with flowers but filled with thorns. We will face these difficulties and these suffering with a smile in our faces and a prayer on our lips for the sake of our people, their welfare, their safety and relief. Many have began to understand and started to say very loudly that in Sri Lanka there won`t be either any solution or sustainable peace without us, after fully comprehending our political progress. Whatever that is not done through us would be a non-entity, a non-event.
Prabakaran and his gang`s campaign in the present war is civilian centric. It targets civilians as the shield, as protective gear. By keeping 600,000 Tamils in the Jaffna Peninsula and 30,000 at Vakarai as human shield Prabakaran & co., are involved in a war of survival. People are pretty well aware that it is the Tigers who are solely responsible for the creation of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Peninsula . The Tigers, who insist on the opening of the A-9 road just for their monetary benefits, cannot be oblivious to the reality that the people in the Peninsula are their own kith and kin. As such they should have consented for the people to receive their basic food and other items without any hesitation. This they have not done. It clearly underlines that the people in the Peninsula are there only for exploitation of the Tigers. Neither welfare nor the aspirations of the people of the Peninsula is of any concern. That is why the Tigers have refused to allow the ships to carry food, and also vetoed the government plan to supply entire food requirements one-time through the A-9 Road .
The scene in Vakarai is no different. For their safety, the Tigers have kept 30,000 people as human shield. Their pitiable conditions and their cry for help have so far not moved Prabakaran. His heart has not melted in sympathy for these people and he is not stirred into helping them. Unfortunate but it reflects a trait of Prabakaran, who along with his men always is worried about himself, his interest, safety and security. The concerns of people, their wants and needs and their security are secondary to Prabakaran and his men. This must end. Our peoples` safety and security and their aspirations have to be taken forward. The enemies of our people and terrorists have to be sidelined.
In this regard there is a heavy responsibility on the part of Government, our Sinhala brethren and also on the international community. They must come forward to look at the Tamils by separating them from the terrorists. Whether Tamil people are from Jaffna or Batticalao, all of them are the citizens of this country. The Tamil people should never be affected in the fight against the terrorists. The Tamil people have to be redeemed as soon as possible from being kept as shields of the terrorists and the Government has to come forward to render all possible aid to them on humanitarian grounds. Any delay would tend to favor the terrorists and also would cause lot of hatred and frustration in the country. The Tamils, Muslims and the Sinhalese people in the North and east have to be safeguarded without any discrimination from the autocratic and genocidal culture of Prabakaran.
We, the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal, are struggling hard to rescue the people living in the North and East. Our armed struggle is limited and restricted only to a point. Once we reach our limits we ourselves will give up the arms struggle. We have never thought nor desired of having comradeship with arms. We have never thought of continuing with the armed struggle for any unachievable goals. Arms we carry today because are forced to carry the arms. Not because we have any desire or wish to carry arms.
We have an urgent commitment to ensure our people live in our home land without fear but in peace, to establish fraternity, to take forward our journey in the democratic streamline and to end the autocratic dictatorial suppressive control over people by Prabakaran and his gang. That is why we are carrying the arms. Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal is a political party that believes in democracy and in democratic way of life. We are determined to solve our issues confronting o... |

ANnuAL Speech!
He has shamelessly chosen November 27 for the 'ANnuAL' speech. After he left LTTE, he does not have any moral right to use this particular date. After all, first died cadre of LTTE (Shanker) from Jaffna and he loved LTTE leader whom Karuna 'DOG' hates for Sinhalas Bone! |

This guy has done nothing to honour his brother whom he left to dry and escaped.
What moral authority has he got to address on this day? |
