Raves,
We had to study Damayanthi - Nala tamil literature for O/L Tamil class, so I believe it's Tamil name.


I studied the Nala-Damayanthi story for Tamil literature for O/L too. However it does not make it a Tamil name.

Didn't we study 'Kamba Ramayanam' for Tamil literature?
That does not make 'Ramayanam' a Tamil epic or Seetha a Tamil name.

Nala Champu story is originally a 'Kananada' story.
It was translated into Tamil too.
Perhaps you may call it a Dravidian or South Indian name but not Tamil..
