I don't want to see any drift among other teammates due to Mahela and Marvan's competition for captaincy.

Pretty good I hear... and there's always great action. Being a drifter, I'm no longer there.

Bravo Mahela!! You fully deserve this honor!!

Mahela took over at a time when SL cricket could have gone into a tailspin with the beating we got in India and Marvan's back problems and probably age catching uo with him. Mahela is ably backed up by his close friend and vice captain Kumar who would make a fine captain himself. Vaas too is a man with obvious leadership ability but I think Mahela's genuine selflessness and love of the team is best suited as events have shown to marshall all the talent and all the egos into a finely tuned machine. But all is not roses. THe loss to South Africa exposed some technical problems in the top order that Mahela and the boys will have to quickly address if they are to nake a serious run for the world cup. You have to be able to play the moving ball. Otherwise you go down in a heap.

Congratulations Mahela!! Its nice to have some news associated with SL that is not depressing.

Mahela should continue to captain the team - to me he seems to be a better 'thinker on his feet' and adapts his attack/defence to the game as it evolves far better than Marvan did. I also agree with comments above about Vaas - I think he would have made a solid skipper.

Anyway - congrats to Mahela - now go on and do us proud next year like 1996! Ahhh .. that day we won the world cup was one of the happiest days of my life ;)
