Priyanthi sis, how are you?
I saw that yesterday,....new definition of high and low Tamils,..lol.
We are talking about a very serous problem sis, if that definition is just for fun, its OK.
But, if people want to label others, when they talk against LTTE as traitors and put into a low cast (out out-cast them), that approach only damaging the educated and well-behaved TAMIL cultural thinking.
If people are not ready to tolerate any idea against LTTE, from Tamils, then I think, we are heading to a very bad direction. |

Lanka hits bottom of back page
By Easwaran Rutnam
Press freedom in Sri Lanka has badly deteriorated, according to an assessment by the international press freedom advocacy group Reporters Sans Frontiers (RSF).
The world press freedom index for 2006 released by RSF ranks Sri Lanka way down at No. 141 when taking into consideration the state of press freedom in 168 countries.
?Sri Lanka, which ranked 51st in 2002, when there was peace, has now sunk to 141 after fighting between government and rebel forces resumed in earnest. Dozens of Tamil journalists have been physically attacked having been accused by one side or the other of being biased against them,? the RSF said.
RSF reports since 2002 -- the year the ceasefire agreement was signed between the government and the LTTE -- suggests press freedom in Sri Lanka has continued to decline with the country being ranked 109 in 2004 and 115 last year.
Seven Asian countries are among the bottom 20 of the Index with none in the top 20. Northern European countries, Finland, Ireland, Iceland and the Netherlands once again are on top of the Index sharing first place with no recorded censorship, threats, intimidation or physical reprisals.
New countries have moved ahead of some Western democracies in the fifth annual Reporters Without Borders Worldwide Press Freedom Index while the most repressive countries remain the same.
The three worst violators of free expression -- North Korea, bottom of the Index at 168th place, Turkmenistan (167th) and Eritrea (166th) - have clamped down further restrictions.

My outdated comrade and other interest parties
economy is heading south! Not good
Sri Lanka?s borrowing costs continued to climb up following Wednesday?s weekly treasury bill auction, with market players anticipating a further hike in policy rates next month, traders said.
Yields on all maturities went up with the central bank refraining from printing money to keep rates down.
and lets see what the central banks novel idea is
The central bank?s practice of printing money and taking up treasury issues has come under fire from critics as it increases inflation and puts pressure on the balance of payments.

Tamilcanuck:
this is why tamils want to run their own affairs because we think we can do better.
OK. Who is going to run the 'tamil' affairs? Prabarkaren?
I dont think he is interested in photo ops and political office.
Yep we all know Prabarkaren is not interested in any political office other than 'self' rule. |
