Mathanamuthas,
Hello brother, how are you?! Ariyali SB pops in now and then. I caught sight of one his thoughtful postings some two weeks ago.
I feel very sorry for ordinary people in the country. The MR regime is moving towards an authoritarian dictatorship with the slow strangling of rule of law and civil rights. I think they would love to have a new July 83 so they can blame the masses for the problems they instigated.
I think the IC is important for both the GOSL and the LTTE. For the GOSL, without the IC, they would have no money to buy kfirs, no money for their own enrichment, etc.. The GOSL would collapse without the IC aid.
The LTTE is not dependent on IC money but they very much need the IC to see the legitimacy of their struggle so that they would be recognized as a state in the future. The LTTE would find it impossible to declare indpendence if the IC was united in hostile opposition. HOwever if the IC can be made to see that the GOSL is reckless and irresponsible and itself a danger to stability, the LTTE would have much more room to proceed towards statehood. The MR regime is the best ally of the LTTE in that sense. |

If you are talking about the 'Karuna phenomenon' .. he broke-off with Velu, not due to any inducement by MR. That is a kind of 'democracy' operating within a 'military situation'. If Karuna chose to throw his 'lot' with SLA/GOSL - that was a 'heaven-sent' opportunity to all those in opposition to Velu.
(Incidentally, that was what out-going SLMM Chief, Gen Ulf Henriccson, also said .. though not approving Karuna's attacks on the LTTE).
I am surprised at your attitude, trying to 'see' every-thing from from a despised terrorist organisation's view-point ! (If some-one has 'lined your pocket', I can understand that .. other-wise you are suffering from a mental aberration). Edited By - SenaM - 18 Oct 2006 14:28:42 GMT |

It is sorry to hear LTTE has attacked military establishments in south as well. I suppose sailors attached to SLSN 'Dakshina' have not in vigilant when suicide bombrs blew themself at the entrance of the camp. I have seen many times that the sailors on duty at gaurd points are not vigilant and sometimes they talk with people 10-15 minutes continuously. Our weaknesses are observed by LTTE terrorists and attack us.
People in Galle must also be vigilant to minimize these types of attacks |

couldnt have put it better.
in the grand scheme of things sometimes you need to take a few hits however unfortunate it may seem.
I personally think this will be the end of the attacks from the LTTE. i think they wanted to show MR & the GOSL the capabilities before Tamil chelvan released his press release today. |

TCK, if we had politicians who did had the guts to make decisions and work toward that then we should not be talking here like this. Do not forget it is same for Tamil politicians also.
BDW I thought that agreement was thrown away long ago!
I agree that we need a solution not only to Tamils but also to all others live there. But big question is are people really committed.
If you think by attacking the economy the country would go down or become a failed state that would not happen. I know we have to sacrifice the development of the country but it is going to survive. As per Thivya at least bcs of the money send by Tamil people live abroad and the amounts they pay to Srilankan air lines to fly to SL...:-) |
