Forest/srimal111,

I agree with you as well. Majority of the sinhalese have moderate views on the ethnic conflict and believe in a peaceful settlement to the ethnic conflict and want to live in peace with our fellow Sri Lankan Muslims and tamils, of course some of the tamil racist in this forum wouldn't understand that.

If Vellupillai Prabhakaran is a resposible leader and he wants to address the legitimate Tamil grievances. He should come forward to negotiate a lasting political solution to address some of the legitimate grievances of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. He should take a leading role as a leader rather than sitting in a bunker and sending his political puppets and terror squads. If tamils think Prabhakaran's violence and terror is going to resolve tamil problems. Their seriously mistaken.

Dear Patriotic Geniuses, what do you think now? Of course you will say that the military should attack even harder. What do you think would happen then?

There is obviously no place in SL that the LTTE cannot attack. They seem to be keeping their attacks restricted to military targets and are retaliating in controlled bursts to let the GOSL know that their offensive capabilities are intact.

If the LTTE wanted to go for all out war Colombo and other major towns would surely be substantially destroyed. Of course Killinochi also can also be destroyed by the military. But who will lose the most in such a zero sum scenario? An established state with an economy or a rebel group aspiring for a state?

The MR regime is dangerously out of touch with ground realities. Hopefully these LTTE attacks will make the GOSL reconsider their belligerent approach and move towards a new truce. But the MR regime will most likely escalate the war to the detriment of all concerned. Whither Srilanka?

Siva,...

If you explain this as a well calculated attack, I agree.

WHY?... please read well...

After the Habarana BOMB, LTTE got an battle field advantage, but was in a fear for huge aerial attack. So, planned to execute this going to be failed attack to bring a sort of balance, without giving any territory to SLA.

Now, they can ask like a 'good boy',
OK,...GOSL, together shall we stop killing and get ready to talk..

This is how I think...

I dont know what the GOSL responce is,..
I wish this is the time to start talk..

TCK

So I heard all tourists are fleeing SL!!

They must be flying to Heathrow, oh.....SL is safer than Heathrow I think.

Do you people really expect tourists to not to go to SL bcs of this incident, what about Turkey then, there were lots of bombs and still people go down and do not give a damn about coward terrorist activities. That is the thinking behind all over the world, yeh temporarily there will be an effect but not in the long term.

Poor souls has to sacrifice their lives for an unworthy cause.

It is a punch in the heart of sinhala Military. LTTE has prooved that they don't need a base to attack any place in SL. SL panicked and that is what LTTE wants. The big tourist season is affected, lot of Prostitutes are going to be out of the business. Lot of

Sri Lankans have seen this all..There is something else..

More Sri Lankans are more determined to end LTTE terror...

That is what I can tell...

We have lived through the times where Galadari hotel in Colombo was empty for months...

We are still living...

Nothing much...

We saw tsunamis for the first time and lived through it..

LTTE threat is just another danger lurking...

So what.?

No force can kill our spirits...

Mahathanamuthas

Just prior to the attempt on Gen Fonseka's life, LTTE thought they had a good scheme going .. There was a so called CFA 'on' .. but the LTTE thought nothing of killing and maiming 5-10 SLA or Police-men, on a daily basis - by exploding claymore fragmentation bombs.

President Rajapakse had to take a decision - whether to be cowed by LTTE's 'suicide bombing', and the steady attrition of his forces via claymore bombs, or do 'some-thing' about it .. take the war across to the other side. Fortunately, we were to find he had 'something' extra, that neither Ranil or Chandrika had. He was prepared to face an 'intensified war-situation', with Velu using 'suicidal' forces. (That is his strength, as well as his weakness. He may have another 500 hard-core suicidal zombies; when they run-out, and we manage to stop his further assembly of 'human bomb-kits' - as was done at Sencholai - Velu's 'fizz' is gone).

And then there was Mavilaru - a test case for him. He faced that trial well .. Sampur, also a triumph. Muhamalai was an 'eye-opener' .. I would say a timely 'warning', to take nothing 'granted' .. importance of planning & preparation before engaging the enemy.

What is important is that we have now reversed that state, which enabled TC to show his ridiculous 'toothy grin', every-time he made an appearance. The 'attrition rate' has been reversed. LTTE explode a claymore bomb, and kill 5 SLA troops - the same day SLAF attack an LTTE assembly point/training centre .. and kill twice that number. With a small force, Velu & Co will have to fold-up - if we maintain this rate of attrition. I am sure he knows this, that is why he is stepping-up his attacks - hoping he can demoralise the civilian populace in the South .. because 'father TIME' is against him.

We must rally round the President .. support him, protect him. We must maintain this course .. the LTTE Ship with Velu as captain, is slowly but surely going down .. It is only a matter of TIME..
