'New commitments of more than 38 million euros, meant for projects in Government as well as Tamil areas, are therefore frozen until the peace process will be restarted.

I wonder how the Germans will categorize the area of Colombo, where 60% are non-Sinhalese but not 60% Tamils?

Why do this so called IC push GOSL and LTTE so much for talks? What miracles do they expect to take place? On one hand I feel sorry for both GOSL and LTTE, (for that matter warring factions in most developing countries) because they are not given liberty to resolve their problems the way they think best. When US or UK opts for war as the solution for terrorism, even the UN sanctions it but terrorism of the same or even higher scale in this part of the world has to be dealt through talks. Colonial North in the previous centuries paved the way to our current problems and the neo-colonial north is all out to perpetuate them. Why not GOSL and LTTE take one side and combat their common enemy?

You appear to be a considerate person for being so concerned over Sri Lanka's economic prosperity. You must be a well-wisher of Sri Lanka, that is why you are lameting over Sri Lanka's lagging behind Singapore. Don't you know these terrorists, they are not as good as you are, they hate to see Sri Lanka being prospered, so they are all out to somehow destroy it.

Thats what happens when you've terrorists running the country, so much corruption, nepotism, bare-naked aggression and false sense of pride. You should venture into the LTTE areas, they've very little but the administration is orderly, no corruption and they even have speed enforcements (not that its anything to crow about).
After the tsunami the LTTE and TRO were praised for the speed of the recovery compared to GOSLow efforts.
Yes I do wish SL does prosper, I've no animosity with the Sinhalese people just its govt and SLA.
As I've posted in the other threads, if genuine efforts to address the Tamil peoples plight is not addressed then Colombo will become more like the streets of Baghdad.

LightiningGG,

Are you residing in a LTTE controlled area? or in Colombo? You appear to believe only what is said in pro-Tamil press. You still have to realize that reality is far from it.

I read all kinds of press, pro-, anti-, neutral....but one doesn't need to live in either areas to realise whats gone wrong with the place just need to open ones eyes.
Again using SGP as an example, did you know that Lee Kwan Yu when he 1st visited Ceylon in the 50's envied the island's economic growth rate, high literacy, good health care and low mortality rate, and wished his country could emulate it...where's SL now.
Carpe Diem...sieze the day lady and the rest of the Sinhalese people if you want your country to prosper.
The Tamils had tried within a united SL but have been shut out and afraid to speak hence the emergence of Eelam. It may not be what the Sinhalese like but more and more its becoming impossible for the 2 races to live together.
