Shelley,

The response is easy. India was never been a Buddhist country..
Sure during Asoka reign there was a lot of Buddhists in India, but it is not a reason to say that India was a Buddhist country.

Shelley,

I learned , but never accepted, i only accept my reason, not what other people say.
So why Buddhism suddently disappeared if whole India was Buddhist ?

There is no logic, i do not trust that Asoka converted all Indians to Buddhism.
Hinduism was never forgot by Indians and will never been forgotten.

Kural why did buddhism disappear? b/c many buddhsit monasteries became stale, and many budhdist ideas became ingrained in hinduism, thus not creating much difference between the two. but the most prominent reason is b/c of the muslim invasions, and how the muslims killed and destroyed the buddhsits and their temples and monks and all. in fact, it continues today, as in 1999, the taliban destroyed the bamiyan buddhas in afghanistan. makes sense?

KURAL and SHELLY,

If I can throw my two cents to this discussion, it is quite difficult to point out a single reason to the question,

why Buddhism suddently disappeared if whole India was Buddhist ?

I am not sure whether whole of India (or Bharatha) became Buddhist or not. However, there was a considerable period of time where Buddhism has become the leading and prominenet religion in India before its (somewhat) sudden disapprearance.

As far as I know, many reasons contributed to the above outcome, which in turn can be summerised in three names of the people who led those courses of action. Those are..

* Buddhist Bikku Nagarjuna Paada
* Hindu theologian Sankharacharya (or Adi Shankara) who is the founder of Advaita Vedanta
* Muhammad Bin Quasim

Shelley,

That is a tricky one, especially for someone like me who has no background in Astrology.

Then again, according the recent brand campaign of hp, Everything Is Possible.
