It is absolutely hilarious to see a race which never existed before the 13th CAD claiming to be natives just because they speak a new language (borrowed from many others), they became large in size and since the British gave them the whole country.

LULA,

As Mucha-linda pointed out many times, and as Karthigesu Indrapala had said on Vallipuram Gold inscription, Sinhalese language was in the existence even two millenia ago (long, long before the 13 CAD).

What is absolutely hilarious is to claim Tamil language and the culture, that originated in Tamil Nadu, is native to its neighbors like Andra Pradhesh or Karnataka or Sri Lanka!

If Tamil language and the culture originated in Tamil Nadu, then Tamil culture is native to Tamil Nadu, not to its neighbors like Karnataka or Andra Pradesh or Sri Lanka or even ENGLAND;-)

Lula,

As somebody who already said, anybody is bound to have serious doubts about the sanity of any individual who continue to argue with two modayaas who do not even have got their basic facts cleared.

As true Nalin De Silva fashion, they first start with a conclusion and THEN find 'evidence' to prove their conclusion. If the exisiting 'evidence' does not match the conclusion, they alter the evidence or redefine terms or even keep them vague to prove what they think is right.

Have you heard this story?

American archeologists dig and found some copper cables underground. Somehow they were dated to a period 1,000 years back. So Americans claimed their ancestors used Cu based telecommunications 1,000 years ago.

Japanese archeologists similarly gig and found optical fiber cables dated to a period of 2,000 years. So they decaled their ancestors used optical fiber based telecommunication 2,000 years ago.

Sinhalese arecheologists to dig, but no matter how deep they dig, they found nothing.

So Nalin De Silva, and folllowing him Muchie and Gama Raala concluded that their GREAT SINHALESE ANCESTORS USED MOBILE TECHNOLOGY 2,500 YEARS AGO.

How do you argue with that?

All,

I have not read the debate fully, so I do not know who originally said this 'booru kathawa'. I am just cut and paste from a post.

If we forget the Naming Convention for a moment, what I can say is that this was the language spoken by a group of people whose modern day descendents identify themselves as Sinhalas. This is also NOT the language spoken by the people whose modern day descendents identify themselves as Tamils.

This is completely wrong. In fact, we do not even have to debate about it because Prof. Leslie Gunawardena has proved it otherwise.

Prof. Leslie Gunawardena has stated clearly that 'Sinhala' was a common name used to identify ALL communties lived in this island once, irrespective of their ethnicity and the language they spoke.

So the above statement can be corrected as,

If we forget the Naming Convention for a moment, this ('ELU')was the language spoken by a group of people whose modern day descendents identify themselves as Sinhalas, TAMILS, VEDDHAS AND MAY BE EVEN MUSLIMS. This is exactly the same language spoken by the people whose SOME OF THE modern day descendents identify themselves as Tamils.

This is NOT an attempt to educate/debate with a modayaa.(No matter whatever I prove they will not accept.)

It is only to educate the true students of history, who sees exploring history as an academic excersise.

Good work man, keep it up.

If we look the creation of Israel, the modern way of colonisation, we can find similar among the Sinhalas.

Firstly they claim to be natives and secondly they say that the people who already lived there are invaders.
It's just hilarious.

Kula,

A few more days left for me to travel, until then I am enjoying these jokes.
The debate which started well and gathered momentum for some period finally came to a standstill with only some repeated jokes due to this clown.

Please enjoy the fun, that is what all others are doing now. There is nothing new, only TN Theesan, natives, 4 decade download, London/Canada Tamils, etc repeated 1001 times. Just Moda choon.

Till I leave, I am enjoying this Buffalo bashing.

My dear sri lankan friends,

i'm an american girl of east i ndian heritage who wants to tell you this: i'm culturally hindu, but have embraced Buddhism after living and experiencing the hindu/indian culture all my life and seeign it what for it reall is. The more I have found out about the lies and the hypocrisy of my Indian culture, the more I became disgusted. They have very little feeling and they only care about their money and social status. They feel superior to any other race and are so close minded it makes me sick. Not all, but too many of them. Not all indians are like this, but as the number of indian people you meet increases, the more and mroe this will be true, guaranteed. But I learned not to get hurt anymore so I no longer care. I've had the wonderful pleasure of coming into contact with many sinhalese, who've given me so much kindness and warmth that you cannot imagine, and for which i'll be eternally grateful. Most of you sinhalese people are great, and I really thank you for welcoming me into your world. And I can tell you this: overall, from my experience and from the experiences of others, I think you buddhsits should cherish your culture and people. you're caring, warm, and loving people. Most of you. There are good and bad amongst all cultures, but from what i and other have experienced, indian people are much harder and much more ruthless than any sinhalese person, and i think you should be proud of yourselves for being so good. I hope to even marry a sinhalese buddhist guy one day.:) I'd choose you people over india any day. maybe this conversion will help the dlaits, but indians have a reputation for only carign for themselves, and unless soem serious reform takes place, it'll stay behind. May the Buddha always lvoe and back you people.
