MURU, the above passage contains lots of interesting reading. I vehemently oppose every sentence, every comma, every hyphen in that for rock solid reasons. However, I have no plans to that again since I have successfully done that in the past with many others. You will find those in my archived posts. I prefer to respond to more specific MYTHS, given the time available.
Mucha I would be grateful if you could give me specific links to your past 'rock solid' arguments. I have one correction to make:
There is no evidence whatsoever of any enmity between the Tamils and the Sinhalas.
This is true for the centuries DIRECTLY before the colonials came. Any dynastic conflict between Tamil and Sinhala rulers in the island was simply just dynastic e.g. the Sinhala rulers had Tamil regiments in their army.

Muru,

What does Prof Indrapala say about Lula's 'Deva Nambiya Theesan that has a clear Tamil meaning'?

Muru,

This is simply wrong.

King Dutu Gemunu explained that his war against Chola invader Elara was to protect the Buddha-Sasanaya (Sinhalese Buddhist culture) in Sri Lanka.

The Sinhalese Kingdom, that existed since King Vijaya, never considered any South Indian invader or their descendants as legitimate Dynasties. The Sinhalese Kings have always considered them as 'Invaders' and fought against these invaders.

(This should not upset SL Tamils today. Sinhalese Kings fought against the invaders from South India as well as from the Europe. Sinhalese have nothing against the European Burghers or SL Tamils or even today's Britons. Just like Americans and Britons fought against WW2 Germans and Japanese, but have nothing against todays' Germans and Japanese.)

e.g. the Sinhala rulers had Tamil regiments in their army.

Muru, your argument based on this example is wrong. Take these counter examples.

* Sinhalese regiments fought for the British in 1815 to defeat the Sinhalese Kingdom.
* Sinhlese Regiments fought for the British against the Sinhalese rebellion in 1818 and 1848.
* Some Germans who fought under the British to defeat Germany in WW2.
* Some Americans work for Russian Military; some Russians work for American Military.

Yet, these wars were not dynastic wars on the basis you claim. The same applies to the wars Sinhalese Kings fought against South Indian invaders.

NO that is NOT true. Dutugaemnu wanted to rule, just like any other aspirant for the throne. You are so blinded by your chauvinsm that you create myths. Tell me, what did the Buddhist Sangha think about their treatment at the hands of Elara? Elara patronised Buddhism in SL so much so that the Sangha had nothing but praise for him in the chronicles. They could not believe that a heathen could be so benevolent to the Buddhists. This is similar to the later Nayaker rule in Kandy. The Sinhala people had no hate whatsoever for Elara, and it can not be called a war of liberation. In fact, if anything Elara strengthened Buddhism in SL - only fanatics can claim that he was out to destroy Buddhism. Of course the Sinhala people prefered a Buddhist leader (rather than a non-believer) to rule them hence the glowing support for Dutugemnu. SO why don't you stop wasting your time spitting nonsense on this forum and just read Indrapala's book or even the Mahavamsa's account of Elara - that is surely time well spent.

However if the argument is about the nativity of *Eela Tamils*, they also want us to believe that they are not mainly a migrated lot, but a set of people who adopted a foreign culture largely due to their proximity to South India by mere coincidence.
Mucha you have just answered your own Q about 'MERE COINCIDENCE' in the above statement.
Here is the answer:
largely due to their proximity to South India

Mucha,

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE AND WHEN DID I MENTION THAT Devanampiya Tissa aka Thevanambiya Thesan WAS A TAMIL?

I think this discussion is turning stale with ModaRaala as usual is repeating the same old boring stuff which has already being discussed.

I hope, by the end of December, I will be equipped with another publication(if I could find one), 'The People of the Lion: Sinhala Consciousness in History and Historiography' written by Prof. R. A. L. H. (Leslie) Gunawardana, the most renowned and well respected historian/archeologist of Sri Lanka.

PEOPLE DO CHANGE THEIR OPINIONS UPON NEW FINDINGS (and it is absolutely natural).

From 1965 to 2005 is a very long period (40 years). I prefer to discuss with people who have updated their knowledge.

Since there is nothing new to discuss other than the old rotten stuff such as Thevanambiya Thesan (whom I have clearly stated as a king from the Sinhala dynasty), it is a total waste of time arguing with someone whose knowledge is stagnating (4 decades behind).

See you all once again when I return from Colombo.

Till then, ENJOY!

Greetings for the season,

ADIOS,

Lula

Lula,

I have told you so many times before. I tell you again.

Let those two gon raalas live in their own fool's paradise.

It is not fair for a person of your capacity to take some fun beating these two buffaloes. Leave them alone. :-)

(No matter you try you cannot give brains to these modayaas. You should know it by now.)

these two RAALAS's (MODA & MUCHA) arguments are based on the translated mahavamsa in 1874 into a language called sinhala which borrows more than 5000 tamils words, talking about tamils, tamil culture and thirukoneshwaram!

Nicely painted argumentation ! Keep it up Tigeress20 :-))
