MR Astro,

This is a old news

The last we heard from Rambuk Ali was there will be a special team from Australia and once the investigation is completed the report will be published for the entire population to know who did it..why is it old news..the headlines says Lankan inquiry of no use cos there was never an inquiry and there will be non..no report absolutely NIL..rem these are similar to the reports on attempted muder of Fonseka or on the killing of Parami..

Dusted and swept under the carpet!!

Miss Forest,
Good to see you after ages
The SLGovt should only take defensive action and no to any offensive action

unfortunately your a bit late..they did go on the offensive after announcing to the whole world their motive to get Elephant Pass before the 28th Peace talks..They underestimated the LTTE power and lost a lot of young men..the guy who was arrested is just 18..(who knows may be even under 18).

yes!! the dates were fixed for Peace talks and i am not sure why the forces should attack!! wrong decision..

There is nothing to say the LTTE has to accept anything and everything that put forward by the GoSl in the peace talks..but we all want to see PEACE return to the country

I think the SLgovt should not send any soldiers into a dangerous situation without very, very, very good cause or reason. As long as the mad LTTErs stick to 'their territory' as defined by the earlier CFA, then let them be. As long as they don't attack the army, ignore them. These soldiers have families and the govt must act the wiser party and act with caution and not send them into a dangerous situation.

Berty,
There are exceptions to any rule. When I said that Sinhalese are not as clever as Tamils, I meant the majority of course. I have very good Sinhalese friends who are very good in nature and well educated and they don't want this situation in Sri Lanka anymore than you and me. I am not a racist at all otherwise, I wouldn't have Sinhalese, Africans, Malaysians, Chinese as my friends. The fact is that the Sinhalese politicians are naive, ignorant, and have no sense of diplomacy and hence I referred to them as Sinhala Moodaiyas. If MR is the commander in chief, why would he let the Army Commander to make a blunder as he has done now? The 85 who died and 300 injured are poor innocent young villagers who were poorly trained by the SL army. I am right in the heart of Colombo now and I can hear the siren of the ambulances carrying injured to the GH. If MR had any sense of diplomacy he would practice what he preaches. No point in spending time in the Sacred city and Sai Baba if he doesn't believe in what Lord Buddha preached or for that matter what Sai Baba is preaching.

Berty bro,
Thanks, and I removed that word.
I do not think your assumption on Tamils is quite right.

What I mean was the same thing you wrote in your reply. There are environments that Tamils and Sinhalese are thinking negatively against each other, but, where I lived in SL or in other countries, I didnt see or dont see that.

OK, that enough for that topic.

Did you see the latest in Tamil net?

Berty,
I don't know who went on the offensive in this case. May be the LTTE, maybe the SLGovt. My point is that if the LTTE attacks 'government held territory' then they should be attacked. Also their arms and weapons smuggling operation much be stopped. But if the the LTTE stick to their own territory and don't attack govt soldiers, then fine, ignore them. Also, the govt should have very, very, very good reasons to send the soldiers out there to die. They must act to prevent uneccesary soldier deaths since these soldiers should not die in vain.

Also, the LTTE is a totailitarian organisation and the best way to show them up is at talks where their killing of opponents, use of child soldiers, extortion, failure to accept a power sharing agreement and devolution etc.etc. can be shown up.

Also talks in the best way to show up LTTE intransigence. So it is much better for the govt to go for talks etc. What other choice does the LTTE have except talk and accept a power sharing agreement anyway?

LionTalks

You must have read my post hastily, and concluded that I am a Tamil 'apologist'. Far from it .. my people have fought for the Sinhala Kings of yore. One of them, who had come on an information gathering 'mission' to Colombo during the Portugese period, was caught and incarcerated in their Negombo Prison (believe the site of the present Kachcheri), and I believe died there.

I my-self have a good record of service with one of the Armed Services of Sri Lanka. (Wish to remain anonymous, therefore I will not go into more detail).

Suggest you read my posting again ..
(I am not an advocate for a policy of 'suppressing Tamils'. They must be given due opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our Nation: Sri Lanka. Future generations of Sinhala, as well as Tamil will benefit there-by. Locked into fighting Tamil people into an 'extended future' does not bode well for any-one - not for the Sinhalese, and not for the Tamils. Best course is to offer 'fair terms' to the Tamil people for administration of the two provinces: North and the East - however, within the ambit and control of the Central Govt. This may not be acceptable to the current LTTE leader-ship, in which case, there is no other choice than to render them sufficiently innocuous (militarily), so that democratic opinion in N and E can assert itself, and render the LTTE redundant).
