The Jathika Hela Urumaya yesterday urged President Mahinda Rajapaksa to reveal the agreement to the public before signing the MoU with the main opposition UNP.
JHU General Secretary Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera said though both parties talk about six main points, nobody knows what is really contained in the said agreement.
?There is no point in revealing the agreement after signing it. President Rajapaksa was elected to power by the people and he has no right to sign any agreement on his own wish. He does not have any right to enter into any agreement which would violate the mandate he received for the Mahinda Chinthanaya,? Ven. Thera said.
JHU General Secretary Omalpe Sobhitha Thera said they will welcome the move only if it works towards stabilizing the country economically as well as politically and bestow everlasting peace.
The Ven. Thera pointed out the government should ensure this consensus will not destroy the faith of the people in the government.

He does not have any right to enter into any agreement which would violate the mandate he received for the Mahinda Chinthanaya,' Ven. Thera said.
This confirms that JHU seeks to rule through majority power. Majority power ought to be limited only during election times if one is to have intellectual and administrative progress and self-governance at the individual level.
The President has the responsibility to follow International Principles of Democracy and Due Process that flows from those Principles.

Gaja, You are correct. He has the responsibility to follow world's first democracy and continue the war against terrorism with no negotiations. You have to agree if you really believe in democracy. Edited By - rswkv - 11 Oct 2006 07:44:44 GMT |

Pray, who is the world's first democracy? India?
Also democracy requires facilities and not instructions and dictatorships.

Oh, come on Sobitha goyyo. Please dont cry. It is true that you supported Motta Raala in the last election, but you all were handsomely rewarded for the support you gave.
Sometimes back I saw a one hour long TV programme on Rupavahini on the work you do at Embilipitiya. Do you think you can get that kind of publicity for free? That was how Motta Raal repaid for the support you gave.
Now please dont cry and mind your own business. If you have nothing else to do, you can try another fast unto death,...er, sorry fast unto hospitalisation.
That will be also a very good dieting programme. You chevaradharis get fat by eating the free lunches offered by poor dayakayaas and doing nothing. Such a dieting programme does a lots of good for your health.

Gaja Akka,
India is world's biggest democracy.
Also democracy requires facilities and not instructions and dictatorships
You are again correct. Peoples living in the North and Eastern part of the country need facilities to have peaceful life. (Infrastructure, Education, Food, pluralism etc) not Instructions by a terrorists gang or Dictatorship by its bloodthirsty leader. |
