I was in New Delhi in 1984. Late P.M Indira Gandhi is considered a friend of Bandaranayake family and supported Sri Lanka militarily since 1971 insurrection. Time to time Indian government used to released statements smiler to the statement of the present US ambassador.
In 1984 I ask Tamil guerrilla leader about this. He said that 'Sinhalese need noisy toys, We needs cookies only' (SINHALAVARUKKUTH THEVAI KILUKILUPPAI, ENGKALUKKUTH THEVAI PANIYARAM. ). That time Tamilnadu government with the concern of chief minister MGR and the opposition leader M.Karunanithy started to give money and other facilities. Then Indian government started to provide training and weapons to Tamil movements.
Not surprisingly Tamil leadership is reacting the same way now with US. 'Give the beautiful box to Sinhalese and the sweets to us.
US also have noicy toys and cookes.

Ajan...correct me if i'm wrong my friend but isn't LTTE is also not making MR's life any easy by pushing it.
Everyone with an ounce of brains will understand that 'la la land' is just a dream.
We all can be fighting for another 20 years but no solution will come.
How about convincing LTTE to give up 'la la land' and come to a 'reasonable' solution.
Nobody wants war...
When bombs go in jafna or colombo...doesn't make a difference now does it. People die...innocent people die. You call them tamil, singhalese etc. but we're all the same end of the day...all want a better life.
LTTE want survive democracy...they survive thanks to the war...just like JHU and JVP. All will amount to nothing if there's complete peace. Do you think army can assault people and get away with if there was peace.
Existence of ltte in their current form is nothing but trouble. It's sad to see that some tamil people thing ltte is their sole representitive... Wonder why their killing all those tamil leaders just because they had different opinions.
History is history...people have made mistakes....singhalese have messed up big time...but so does ltte. Blaming eachother and continuing this war brings no good to anyone. Why can't people understand these things...government has to compromise and ltte has to compromise...until then their will be no solution.

Ajan....followed your link...actually i had to type it in cos couldn't copy off the post :(
I read the whole thing...i hope all those who read that understands what i wrote on my earlier post and some other users have also posted on different threads.
What makes this story of the army soldier any different from those unknown stories of ltte cadres who died the same way.
And we all know that some of them were children.
At least we get to know the army stories whether the army liked it or not...you know why...this part of the country still have some freedom...

Gaja,

'Each time Mahinda fails and Ranil knows he would have won - Ranil would feel inner peace. I have had this experience many times - when those who cheated and won were kicked out by others who to me were instruments of God.
'

I do not know where you live but you seem to be indulging in history too much and that could be hazardous to your thinking.

Elections are long gone and there's a president appointed by the people. His name is Mahinda Rajapakse... he is president for ALL citizens regardless of their etnicity, religon, language.

There's no point now what Ranil 'would have done'. It what we are are going to do as united team of Sri Lankans that matters as far as our Motherland Sri Lanka (right hand on your chest!) is concerned.

There is nor perfect country on earth. Sri Lanka is not an exception.

Fortunately, we have liberty and democratic system to live free.

That does not mean ANYONE, NO MATTER WHO OR WHAT ARE, can KILL proud security forces protecting all communities, and come up with rubbish such as 'liberation', 'homeland', 'discrimination', 'la-la land' etc. to JUSTIFY the killing. Absolutely NO.

Those responsible should be and will be brought to justice sooner or later... might take another couple of decades.

Support, protectiona and aid to those criminals by any citizen regardles of tamil, sinhalaa, muslim or whatever is going against the state and could be harmful to them.

In a democratic system, we solve our issues through discusions. Inability or lack of resources of leaders to successfully negotiate and does not warrant reaching for the gun.

THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF THE DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM.

...AND THAT'S WHY SO FAR, NO 'SEPARATE' LA-LA LAND HAS NEVER BEEN CREATED IN ANY DEMOCRATIIC COUNTRY.

So you are just wasting your time coming up with complicated statements, news articles, fabrications and sheer speculation to justify raw MURDER soldiers doing their duty.

Readers are not fools.

SomaRama59...

i belong to the 98% in your opinion cos i dont agree with you on certain things.
you say you support the 'struggle'... would you kindly elaborate a bit more on this 'struggle' that you so enthusiastically supports.
Do you want a seperate state like ltte wants?
I'm also in full support for tamil, muslim and sinhala for equal rights....they are all sri lankan after all.
But seperate state is where my support ends...
Do you see this as a viable option? what's gonna happen to tamils in the south if this happens?
Just a few questions please don't get pissed off :) I aint as intelligent as you since i'm in th 98%

LTTE?S canard on girl?s abduction a hoax
------------------------------------------
A meticulously hatched LTTE plot to tarnish the image of the Sri Lanka Army over an alleged abduction of a school girl in KONDAVIL area, JAFFNA was proved a hoax when Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) representatives on Tuesday (10) ruled that there was no truth in the fabricated story or the alleged abduction.

Tamil Tiger (LTTE) propaganda mill on Tuesday (10) went to town over this alleged abduction of a teenager and tried hard to provoke civilians in KONDAVIL area.

The absence of a teenage girl for a few hours from KONDAVIL area while she was returning from school prompted LTTE men to capitalize on the scene.

Those propagandist deliberately fabricated a story saying that the girl was being detained inside the Army camp at KONDAVIL.

LTTE men further complained to the SLMM on the same line and requested them to immediately contact the Army and get her the alleged detained girl release.

In the meantime, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian has brought the alleged abduction to the attention of His Excellency the President MAHINDA RAJAPAKSHA who in turn asked for a report on the matter from the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

However, as directed investigation got underway Tuesday (10) evening itself information given to the Army by guardians of the girl in question confirmed that the teenage girl has returned home reportedly after an alleged tour to the town with some one else.

This concocted LTTE canard once again clearing reinforces that LTTE was hell-bent on provoking the masses against the troops deployed in these area.

Earlier on TamilNet

A school girl, yet to be identified, was forcefully taken away by four Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers when she was walking home along PaalPannai Road (Milk farm Road) from school between Kondavil and Thirunelvely junctions in Jaffna at 2 p.m. Tuesday, residents of the area who witnessed the incident said.

They didn't even know who the girl was but knew it was the army. Four army guys also....with witnesses...
And lots of guys here quote tamilnet as their source.

when are you gonna see the LTTE for their true self.
They survive on war my friends. No war...guns no longer rule. Even the army wont have so much of powers. no emergency law.
Most of all...LTTE can't function.

Too bad that LTTE has so much support from the tamil community and according RAMA 2% sinhala community to go on and live long...

Might as well get used it by now...this will not end any time soon...
