Thank you Vinivida for your response.
As per my understanding of democracy anyone who does the work of the President is entitled to speak like a President. We just do not get the official benefits for doing so.
You have started off with Ranil and ended with the Tigers. Pardon my ignorance - but what's the connection?

Let me start by saying 'we all are conectecd'... we live in a global village, whether one acccepts it or not.
Every Sri Lankan is not only connected to the mass murderer's terror but also BADLY AFFECTED... because:
a) Thier prosperity, livelihood, future, security and safety are at stake because of the butcher's agenda-less violence.
b) Specifically, free thinking Tamils are being murdered by the LTTE becuase they have different opinions.
c) Tamil kids are forcibly recruited for terrorist ativities and thousands have been killed or maimed.
d) Sri Lanka's sovereignity, pride, liberty, democracy and resources are at risk.
e) Proud SLA serving all communities in Sri Lanka are attacked while on duty and off-duty.
f) Capable political leaders of all communities are being murdered by the LTTE.
g) Business leaders cannot take the country to the next level.
h) Tsunami affected folks do not get quick relief to get back on their feet and start new.
Most important connection is that the connection we have to freedom and democracy we enjoy Sri Lanka.
Within a functioning democratic country, there can never exist another separate state achieved thru terror... There has never been one. But I'll say this...it is quite possible to have one through choice... through the ballot.
The amazing part that's puzzling me is that, the pundits who write volumes here just do not seem to get it!
The violence only complicates the issue, pulling the ship in the wrong direction.

US will play a crucial role in future course of this country.India won't say a word about it.
They have already taken up the observer position.
US is eyeing a base in Sri Lanka since they have to vacate their Japanese and Korean bases perhaps within next 10 years.
Sri Lanka government has no other option but to give into
a possible demand for a base most likely in Trinco.
They(the US) have seen a Window of oppurtunity and will pursue it to the utter dissapointment of the tigers..
This is called getting three birds(not two 'birdseyes') in one shot.
The biggest loser of this all is India who created this monster called ltte..
There is a another possibility, that they(US) might side with ltte to get the base in return for ealam if the GOSL refused it to the US.
Mahinda should play his cards carefully.
This is the first time they have openly expressed their position that is in favour of the government.

Dear Vinivida,
Thank you for responding.
I agree that we are all connected to each other - through Truth and Love. So, are you saying that Ranil is connected to Tigers through Truth / Love? Is Mahinda not connected to the Tigers? Does he not feel Love for them? or do they not share the Truth?
