Dauntless,
i was referring to something else when i meant 'ride home'. never mind.
your wife is gonna be pissed since youre gonna be late.
hope youre not going to sing 'nona magey sudhu noney' to her.
be a man and tell her the truth that you spent some time with the tamils butchers on the forum instead of saying there was a lot of traffic on the road or you had a puncture. take care and ride safely. :):) |

Cpl.Priyantha Rathnayake's Funeral in the Images section.
At the funeral, the JVP councillor declared: ?Upananda sacrificed his life for the unitary state. We salute war heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend the motherland.?
Can anybody explain me the meaning of this word ' motherland' and whose mother are they talking about.
How this motherland phenomenon relates to Sri Lankans.
I am irritated by this word being used by war mongerers to deceive the people.
I can understand Punya boomi that we can create devoid of crime and killings nothing about this exploitive, explosive and expulsive word. Please help me out, my friends.

Hi all
this thread has been really interesting and often amusing reading.
i see there are both ltte supporters and bashers that post here... i like to think i fall in neither category.
ltte were not the only or even first militant tamil liberation movement. they do however seem to be the only one that was hell bent on getting a seperate tamileelam. for them the moral obligation is more important than the political reality. the moral obligtion being not to betray all those who have laid down their lives for the tamil cause, with which i sympathise. the political reality being that a permanent solution can only be born through compromise from both sides.
neither side need countries like US to tell them about the cost of war or the legitimacy of their arguments. |

Motherland may refer to a mother country as opposed to its colonies. It may also refer to the origin of an ethinic group... in which case it's synonymous to 'fatherland', which is the country from which one's father or forefathers originate.
So fairplay in answer to your cry for help...
I really have no idea whose mother they are talking about nor do I have any idea how it relates to Sri Lankans beacuse far as i know Sri lanka is no longer a colony or has no colonies of its own.
I guess its must be something to do with who their father are. |

AnilSL,
You wrote to Ajan: Give North to US !
Anil, please mark this word. Any foreign soldier will have to walk over my dead body before any part of Sri Lanka is given. I will join the Military again to fight the foreigners. It is worth killing a Foreigner than one of our own citizens that our Military is proud about; right now.
Who the hell are you to even think of giving any part of this land to any foreign bastard.
India wants to install two of it's Cantonments in SL for exchange of Military assistance.
I am Tamil, not an opportunist like the pseudo patriots of this nation. Tamils of N/E are having a quarrel and commotion and unfortunately killing but would not go to the extent of allowing a foreigner setting foot on our country. LTTE has proved their loyalty and patriotism to the country.
I am proud to say and thank LTTE for this colossal accomplishment. If you are a Singhalese , I am ashamed to read you as a Sri lankan.

whilst VP might be a great military strategist i'm not really sure he would be a good politician or a economist for that matter. |
