Foreign monitors for what. Yes they can sit at the polling booth and watch a person casting the vote. But what about 'hora chanda'?. Can they catch them? How about ready made ballot boxes in the politicians houses? After all what do they know about the Sri Lanka politicians' games? Only Sri Lankans can do a good job. That again only if those monitors are vested with police powers to catch the fould players.

If all our political leaders & their supporters adhere to basic principles of an honest election campaign and peaceful conducts before, during and after the elections, we need not ask the presence of foreign observers.
In war torn countries like Iraq or Afghanistan peaceful elections can not be held and hence the presence of foreign observers are needed.
In Sri Lanka, we do not have a war. From time to time we had terrorist attacks and suicide bombers exploding in crowded places. It is no more the case. So....?
If in Sri Lanka we get people like the 'Oslo goons' to verify the elections it is better not have any foreigners at all and have faith in our own leaders.
A huge amount of valuable foreign exchange can be saved to use for more needy problems.........

Before the monitors coming to sri lanka
I a wish to know who will be the real candidate for the presidenital election?
Is it Mr.Ratnasiri ( former prime minister ) who is supposed to replace Mr-Mahinda Rajapaksh OR
Anura Banadaranaike after returning of Mrs CBK

General election will not be held immediately,
so foreign monitors can come later.

UNP should ask for Norwegians, they know how to favour one side over the other.

Why do people in the N & NE need elections or monitors, they don't want democracy as they have already succumbed to LTTE dictatorship. So as before, this time its our elections.
