AnuD, Tigeress19,

Sinhalese are more South Indian than SL Tamils. It?s the conclusion of a Scientific study by Meyer. That explains why the Chief Minister Jayathilake is friendly with CBK and didn?t bother sending at least a message of condolence to the SL Tamil tsunami victims. That explains the historical fact that Sinhalese are the descendants of North Indian men and South Indian mothers. The high percentage of genetic pool of Sinhalese with South India also explains their continuous social relationship, as North India was 2500 miles away.

Meyer, 1990 Eric Aspects of the Sinhalese-Tamil relations
in the Plantation Areas of Sri-Lanka under the British Raj:
The Indian Economic and Social History Review. 27:2 pg. 165-188

A summary of a study of the genetic composition of Sinhalese and Sri Lankan Tamils are given below. The study
shows that Sinhalese and Tamils share about 55% of a common gene pool. The major part of the Sinhalese (70%) genes are of South Indian origin.
What was most surprising was the very little Vedda genes in either the Sinhalese or Tamils. The Veddas appear to be a distinct group.

Some of us are quick to point the fingers at Americans and Australians for the shaby way they treat their natives.

Nirupam:

Everything is the way we perceive and not otherwise.

I agree with what you say.

I can not remember the name of the book.

There is a book by Rabindranath Tagore, he wrote about indian nationalism against british. In that book 'GORA' was a person with a mixed birth. He was not pure hindu. But he was fighting for hindu nationalism, but later he understood that he was mixed.

So you are fighting for you think as right and not for what is right.

Reason for SL peace process facing most serious challenge is due to the reason that all parties to the peace process are not putting genuine efforts for the cause.

Whatever, it is up to the Sri Lankans to decide the fate of final settlement not the out siders if any body wish to settle it within the constitution. Otherwise all discussions would be wasteful unless you agree with a nature of the final solution. Otherwise better we first agree to change the constitution before start focusing on the peace process.
