It's not India wants to get involved in SL conflict, but, our Foreign Ministers, Mr K and Mr A.B and those who used to burnt Indian goods and shops, JVP and also JVP, want her intervention hoping this time around their agenda would be carried out.

India remembers : the expulsion of upcountry workers and demanding Katchai Thivu when she was preoccupied with hostile neighbours ,
Pakistan and China,
uncerimonious expulion of IPKF,
allowing Pakistani jets to refuel at Colombo aiports to bomb East Pakistan and
bombing Tamil civilians in North of SL.

India also remembers : Killing of Rajiv Gandhi.

Mrs Gandhi trained Tamil freedom fighters to contain Sri Lanka and at the same time check on Tamil rebellian by encouraging more than one group. Sri Lanka had to seek India's help in controlling rebels. Inexperienced Rajiv fell into JR's trap to kill LTTE cadres but escaped an assasination attempt of Sinhalese soldier.

First INdia and later Norway were not agreeable to Southern extremists. After the Pres. election Sri Lankans will learn that Norway will carry on as a facilitator because extremism is not acceptable to UN or International Community. We are incapable of solving our problem ourselves.

Malship,

I do realise your comment was in good spirit. No hard feelings. I was not sure and hence the query. Once I realise that you did not mean any insult, I am sport enough to enjoy it.

Cheers
