Mangala Moonesinghe former Sri Lankan High Commissioner to New Delhi for eight long years and a former MP says India will not get involved in the Sri Lankan conflict. He said `I have been there for a long time. I have met lots of leaders along with our leaders. The Indians came in once and they were asked to move out. They wish us very well, but from their utterances they will not come into replace any other facilitator or peace negotiator`
In a HARDLINE interview on YATV/TNL with this correspoindent , last night Moonesinghe said `. I can candidly say they want the Norwegians to carry on. It is like India is playing a part because the Norwegians report to India each time they have a meeting. The Indians are quite confident that the Norwegians can handle the job and the Indians also see the pressures on the Norwegians. Any peace maker puts his life at stake. The Indians know what happened to them as peace makers so I don`t think they want to get involved. They want to maintain the good relations with us and they feel the Norwegians are doing a good job. They want the Norwegians to continue because they are kept informed`
Speaking on the IPKF, Moonesinghe said `The IPKF came here as a peace keeping force because they wanted to make peace and ensure that peace is retained. Unfortunately it did not last very long because there was reneging by one of the sides and the peace break down. But their purpose when they came here was to ensure like the Monitors that peace is maintained. They came with their armed forces to see that that peace would be retained`

It should not be surprising to anyone the Sri Lankan politicians wants Norway as Peace 'facilitators'.
Norway is using their oil wealth to 'oil' Sri Lankan Polticians, NGO, Journalists and even SL Buddhist monks has been invited to seminars to learn the right Buddhism. Norway is using funds on both the GOSL and LTTE. The Tamil dissidents are non-existing and receive no funds. In addition to the 40 million US dollars officially is used in Sri Lanka, there is used substantial funds unofficially. Norwegian vehicles operated by the TRO have been stopped in checkpoints stacked with money to the LTTE, allegedly for humanitarian projects.
Norway is also dangling the Nobel Peace Price in front of the SL President and GOSL know about the important influence Norway have on other rich countries who is giving foreign aid to Sri Lanka.
When the GOSL gives away the territory occupied by the LTTE we will see the creation of a fascist terrorist state that will continue to torture and kill the Tamils that do not obey the LTTE rulers. LTTE will become a permanent threat to India and will get more resources to support and fuel insurgency and terrorist groups inside India. The LTTE is also cooperating with other terrorist groups in the region that create a threat to Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and many other nations. The GOSL will be the future headache of world, a new Taliban regime that has given away territory to a terrorist group outside their control. The SL President will be the new Mullah Omar and Prabakharan the Sri Lankan Bin-Laden. The only difference is of course Bin Laden is a novice compared to LTTE, both in number of victims and cruelty
Sooner or later India or any other super powers have to take actions against the LTTE. Why wait? Has it not been enough casualties of the LTTE terrorism?

| As much as I hate it, I have to agree with malship. They will always want their two cents in SL. Personally I do ot wish to see Indians getting involved in our problems (or any other foreign nation for that matter). |

Mangala Monasinghe may be correct...but the Indians will continue to shadow SL...to my knowledge they view SL as a potential threat to India even more than Pakistan...but our leaders should know how to play safe with India while maintaining good relationships which is critical for sri lanka...
