| So the some academic's writing we village people could not understand ,it was not fundamentalism ,because the so called academic was quite progressive when it comes to the question of driving , cell phone usage, business management of Buddhist clergy, but when it comes to national politics the word need to be changed to SIGNHALESE BUDDHIST CHAUVINISM. That is what JHU is. I totally agree. |

Waruna,
How educated are you? Are you a scholar, a Pundit, or something I don't know of?
So, you claim that you are true Buddhist, is it not?
Does Buddhism teach you to look down on people who are less educated than you?
Does Buddhism teach you to look down on people because they belong to a lower cast?
To me, if you are an educated person, then you are an educated fool, otherwise you are a fool anyway! |

Buddhist monks should leave politics.
I wonder whether the Buddhist monks who have entered main stream politics in Sri Lanka today, realise, why they decided to become Buddhist monks in the first place. No surprise, definitely for spiritual reasons.
The governance of a country should be done by the educated, visionary and courageous people in the civil society, not by Buddhist monks.
Buddhist monks should provide the spiritual help and life guidance needed by the civil society. They should preach to the society what Load Buddha preached and also they should make out to the society reactions of the good actions and bad actions.
In society itself there are immense social problems such as drug addiction, prostitution, alcoholism, gambling, disrespect to elders etc. In the current environment in order to overcome these problems the society lacks economic and spiritual help from the relevant authorities and the relevant spiritual sources.
Politically motivated Buddhist monks have failed to understand the impact of the social problems in the civil society in a broader prospect. They have started to address the social issues in the civil society by political means rather than spirituality.
In a secular country like Sri Lanka the majority of the people are Buddhist. When, their spiritual representative Buddhist monks' forms and engage in a political process; the civil society could loose trust, respect and also the minority ethnic communities could get cornered by their policies and actions.
It's very pathetic, how, the Buddhist monks who are involved in political activities in Sri Lanka have shattered the respect the civil society had on Buddhist monks.
Politics and religion are two different ball games.
History shows keeping politics and religion separate when governing a country has enabled much better secular societies and also societies have prospered with spiritually.
Buddhist monks who are involved in political activities should leave politics and they should engage in well been of their initial chosen path spirituality, helping the society when spiritual help is needed in order to over come their problems and explaining the great philosophy preached by Load Buddha.
Prior, will be the greatest contribution the Buddhist monks could engage in, in order to safeguard the well been of Buddhism, to guide the corrupt members of the civil society in the right path and finally to regain the respect lost by the civil society. |

| Academic is taking a snooze taking a lieu leave having had to work on a full moon day promoting Singhalese Buddhist Chauvinism; his agent is preparing for the next attack on the village people sharpening his sword and swearing he will show every body what 'Sinhalathvaya' is. I have tightened up my 'Amude' to run to down south where I came form to hide among my relatives who are also Singhalese Buddhists like me. |

MAGHA:
(If they are still following the same schedule) Ruhunu Kumari should leave Fort Railway Station at 5:15 pm.

PS: Once you visited your Sinhala Buddhist relatives ask what the meaning of the Sinhala Proverb 'Dee Kirata Balalluth Sakkilu' is.

To whom it may concern:
If I am ever going to use my 'SWARD', I would use it against a True Eelamist who personally believes Tamils have a Historical Right to have their own Homeland in Sri Lanka.
But, I would NOT use it on any Self-Declared Moderetors who occasionally criticise JHU for Chuvinism and blame LTTE for Child abduction while congradulating a Tamil Student for some achievement (while secretly voting for UNP). These actors are just after a round of claps, but nothing else. So, I see no point loosing the sharpness of the 'SWARD' on these people, but rather use a foot-ruler on them.
