London welcomes highest achieving Sri Lankan students

Four Sri Lankan students visited London in August as a prize for being the best performing students in the country. The three-day visit recognised the students` achievements and exposed them to foreign educational and cultural experiences.
Ryan Atukorala, Arivinda Atukorala, Anuk Arudpragasam and Miss Prerna Jain are from the Colombo International School (CIS).
This is the first time that a trip to London has been offered as an Edexcel prize. Every student in Sri Lanka who entered an Edexcel qualification was automatically entered.
Edexcel is a Pearson company (the world`s leading Media and Education Company) and offers both academic and vocational qualifications in the UK and across 112 countries worlwide.
Nick Sansome, Edexcel International Regional Director in South Asia said: `We are overjoyed to be offering students the chance to sample a different culture. The whistle stop tour included the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, the British Library and Shakespeare`s Globe Theatre. They also met staff in Edexcel`s London headquarters.
The Edexcel Annual Student Awards organised by Edexcel`s Sri Lankan office and the British Council is on September 2 in Colombo, where Ryan Atukorala will receive the `Best O level/GCSE June 2004` student award.
Ryan Atukorala achieved an outstanding 12 A grades in his O level and GCSE exams. The other 3 students each gained 10 A grades.
