Impartial India better facilitator than pro LTTE Norway: EPDP

India says it does not envisage a direct role in Sri Lanka`s peace process, despite some Tamil political parties saying that the powerful neighbor will be a better facilitator than Norway, if it would become involved.
The Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP), an ally of the ruling alliance government, says India will be more effective in bringing permanent peace to Sri Lanka than the Norwegians, who EPDP leader Douglas Devananda claims is biased towards the LTTE.
However, a spokesman at the Indian High Commission told the Daily Mirror that, while India supports a peaceful resolution of the issue through negotiations, the High Commission does not see a direct role at this point.
'We usually do not comment on remarks by distinguished Sri Lankan political leaders, on the peace process, which India prefers to discuss with the Governments concerned. However, our stand has always been that we will support a peaceful, negotiated settlement that meets the just aspirations of all communities, within a united and democratic Sri Lanka` he said.
Devananda says Norway is playing to the tune of the LTTE and should be replaced more preferably by India.
Meanwhile, the External Affairs ministry in New Delhi, issuing a statement, has said it favoured `a comprehensive, negotiated settlement, acceptable to all communities in the island nation.'
`We stress the need to maintain peace through respect for the Ceasefire Agreement, the need to deliver speedy and effective relief and rehabilitation to all the affected people, including in the northeast and the need to find a durable political solution that maintains the unity and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka and guarantees the fundamental rights of all individuals, while ensuring the safety and prosperity of the people.` the statement said.
The LTTE is outlawed in India, for its involvement in the 1991 assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

How could india be impartial? india will favour EPDP for their goal.
India will feed dogs like EPDP , ,JVP ,Anandasangaree for their good.
one of their Dog kadiragama has died, india send their foreign minister and defence minister to srilanka, not for the funeral of their kadir. it is to make sure CBK appoint someone close to them (dog). but it looks like CBK appointed a donkey for the job.
EPDP & JVP are feed to make this sort of noices otherwise their feed will be cut. |

same way majority shold feel like majority.
The only option is the minority also has the freedom to feel like majority. That will solve the problem
There is no logic that majority should feel like minority. |

DUmindak , i think its better you changer your name to DUMB IN DARK ( sorry not to ofend you) your comments are so dumb. this is 21st century everyone is equal. and there is no majority and minority. ( in fact we all sould keep our religion and race a side and behave like one country man.
Jar-R , i do understand you are frustrated that i called kadiragama a dog. he is far too much educated than me and i am not disputing that. and he is a selfish man who betraied the tamils for his own goal.
you must saw the reaction from tamils when he died. as far as tamil concern he was a cancer spreading inside the body , it must be removed ,and its removed.
i have said my own resons why tamils hated him so much. he is a hero for you because he did work against tamils.
in my view he is gone for good. |

you have many friends and oneof them is a doctor and you have so much respect for him. and yet you learn that he try to rape or try to abuse one of your other friends wife (who may not be much educated). how would you feel about him?
will you give same respect ?
will you be friend with him same way as you did?

Pera, you rightly reminder EPDP leader of his misdeed of kidnapping American couple that too for ransom money not on any political issue.
He accused LTTE of the killing of the journalist Sivaram alias Taraki. THe police investigators arrested the supporters of Plote and EPDP. This man is there to swindle the tax payers money to top up his bank balance.
He being the minister in the Govt. must be able to convince his boss, the President to send home Norway and invite India to play that role instead of playing to his gallery. Still, it may not be that easy as India, LTTE and other IC support Norway's facilitary role. He wants to be a friend of the Island and Asiatribune.com while enjoying the comforts and perks of his ministerial post.
He is the most dangerous terrorist and extotioner. |
