Dear Ariyalai, that is how Tamils live in the rest of the country. But when some one seeds anger, hatredness, inferiority or superiority and cruelty towards another party, what you reap is all thse conflicts. See how togeress write here..she and many others try to show how superior Tamils, how their origin and DNA etc looking satcastically at Sinhalese Buddhism and history of SL!
I can not believe living in harmony with those attitudes.
All you suggested should be there among all the Sri lankans irrespective of religion,ethnicity ,region etc etc. Until we can look at each other as equal poeple with equal rights...war will never end.

Yeah , you are right about my comment.I did lose it there...been doing that lately ..
Sorry about that.
But you know it DOES cheese me off to read these articles about how our country goes from bad to worse and from worse to even worse just because the CBK thinks its ok to mess around with it.
Also the atttitudes of a 'certain sector' in this forum manages to 'cheese 'me off too.
Im sure you know what I mean.

If you read the news papers regularly after the assignation of Mr. Kadirgamer, note that International countries are willing to help Sri Lankan Police to Investigate about the criminals. But the answers from SL were......? SL has refused any international help to investigate the murder of Mr. Kadirgamar. Why? What was the real reason? Are they fully equipped to handle a situation like this? Every one knows that it?s not the truth.
SL government knows that who is behind this and they do not wanted to arrest them. I have read an article in utyan news quoting that including US and British governments are willing to help SL police department investigating the case, But Our IG has refused there help saying that it?s not necessary. If the government wanted to find the real criminals they should get the international help immediately. |

I am in agreement with you completely; you must not get worked up about people winding each other up. The problem is that the Sri Lankan society is cultured to think along the racial lines; it is because, Sri Lanka has never been blessed with good leaders; it is as simple as that.
LTTE can be made irrelevant by bring them into the main polity, and it can only be done through negotiations. The Sinhala polity should act as one, and offer a viable solution to the Tamils in line with internationally accepted norms, and put pressure on LTTE.
Can the Sinhala polity unite on this issue rather than try to outsmart each other for political expediency? |

Please do not live in 1987. Norway is not IPKF to be misled by JR?s grand children to engaged in a war with LTTE. And during IPKF time Dixit function as a viceroy in Colombo.
Norway is not functioning in that way. Norway is not even a mediator. They are only facilitator invited by the parties of the conflicts namely GOSL and LTTE. Don?t expect them to behave like IPKF. They are only doing what GOSL and LTTE jointly asked them to do. They will go out if GOSL or LTTE asked them to go.
If you don?t want Norway please ask your government to expel them. Why JVP did not expel Norway while they were in the government? Because Sri Lankan Military needs CFA. Most of the decisions made by GOSL regarding the talk with LTTE is guided by the advise given by its security chiefs.
The world is not the back yard of Sri Lanka. According a recent verdict of Indian Supreme court praising Prabaharan or politically supporting LTTE is not a crime in India. Last week a popular Tamil actor Vijayaganth who is dreaming to become the chief minister of Tamilnadu, openly declaired his support to Prabaharan. He also refused to allow his fans to celebrate his birth day up to the victory of the Elam Tamils.
Waruna wanted the west to punish the Tamil participant of this forem. Waruna, please thing twice before raise such neo fascist cries. In this forum everyone have freedom of expression.
War is destructive to Tamils and disastrous to Sinhalese.
Please stop seeing west and India as the court yard of Sri Lanka.
Compared to South Asia west is more liberal so far you are not working for Osama bin Laden.
Sri Lankan Tamils have no place in Sri Lanka. But Sri Lankan Tamils already have strong place in the world. This contradiction cannot prolong. Sinhalese have no capacity to weakening the place of the Sri Lankan Tamils in the world. So Sri Lankan Tamils will establish in Sri Lanka in long run. The question is whether Sinhalese wanted to use our strength to build the country or destroy the country. I humbly request my Sinhalese friends to give us a chance to build the country as a confederation.
War is not the best option for Sinhalese. War will abruptly end if LTTE?s artillery range increase by a few more kilometers to cover Pallali- KKS military complex, or any destabilization in the south similar 1998 took place.
In South the strategically important kills and costal areas are ethnically mixed areas. Beside this the wet is saturated by around 50000 to 80000 army deserters and frustrating JVP?s. In 1998 one anti JVP and anti Premadasa out side force supplied arms to JVP to provoke pre mature insurrection in order to destabilize south and destroy JVP.

We will have to get rid of Norwagians and as a nation,Sinhalese,Tamils,Muslims and Burghers shout talk collectively and not as LTTE and the Sinhalese.
LTTE is not the sole representatives of Tamils just as much as SLFP or UNP or JVP are not.Have we ever said in this column that JVP or UNP or SLFP represents the Sinhalese?
Unless Tamils are represented by their respective bodies,this conflict can never be solved.For example,Karuna said that Eastern Tamils are been discriminated by the Northen Tamils.Infact it is true and Karuna has given reasons.But the solen headed Northerners do not want to accept that REALITY.
If the LTTE is the sole rep of Tamils in Sri Lanka,why do they need GOSL PROTECTION to roam about?
These Murderes BANDITS even after signing the CFA,did they keep to to the aggreement? NO! WHY?
LTTE are an UNCIVILISED,ILLETERATE,SHORTSIGHTED,FOOLISH TERRORIST ORGANISATION TRYING TO RULE WITH THE GUN!
So,lay down arms,
Let all Tamil representatives be represented in discussions,
Let all Muslim reps be represented and
Sinhalese all major parties join the FORUM!

I well come your civism about LTTE.That your right. But you have no rights to decide who represent Tamils. That?s the birth rights of the Tamils. For you LTTE is Terrorist. Fore most of the Tamils LTTE is liberation front. And all the major Sinhalese parties are terrorist. This type of argument will lead us nowhere. Ground situation is clear. GOSL and LTTE is in the table. Accept the reality and help us to find a political solution.

Norway is a country, internationally they have got many credits for being facilitator to bring two or more confronting parties/countries together.
SL government does not have any such credibility and further there is hardly few publication who explore the truth of a situation. Majority of SL publication are racist. Especially 'The Island' a third class news paper in that country. As a result, people who are reading it too becoming 'third class' in nature.
Norway certainly will do better for this country. It is not the blind trust or believe. It is a conclusion, after a careful observation since 2000. |

If U say that LTTE only should represent Tamils,IS THAT DEMOCRATIC WAY OF DISCUSSIONS???
U R totally WRONG-
ALL TAMIL PARTIES JUST AS MUCH AS ALL OTHER PARTIES SHOULD BE REPRESENTD IN DISCUSSIONS!
