DEAR VAN HELL SING
OF COURSE THE TAMILS ARE NOT COLD BLOODED KILLERS. THE INCIDENT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FATEFULL DEATH OF A GOOD POLICE OFFICER AND GREAT RUGBY PLAYER.
PEOPLE OF JAFFNA RESPECT OUTSIDERS REGARDLESS OF SINHALA OR ELSE.
THE FACT IS CAUSE FOR THE INCIDENT MUST BE THOROUGHLY UNDERSTOOD.... CLEARLY THE INDECIPLINED, ROGUE SOLDIERS HAD FAILED THEIR PROCEDURES. ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME. THERE ARE EVIDENCE THAT SLA HAD BEEN PROMOTING BOOTLEGGING AND PROSTITUTION IN THE NORTH EAST,AS A WEAPON TO DESTROY TAMIL CULTURE.
THIS LED TO THE SHOOTING INCIDENT.
SADLY THE SSP HAD ALSO FAILED TO FOLLOW RULES OF ENGAGEMENT IN HIS APPROACH TO UNRULY MOB/ HE SHOULD HAVE CALCULTED THE RISKS.... AT LEAST WITH HIS WEAPON OR COUPLE OF ARMED OFFICERS.
OF COURSE IT'S LIKELY THE LTTE COULD HAVE CAPITALISED ON THE SITUATION, THROUGH THEIR INTELLIGENCE OPERATIVES AND SYPATHISERS. EXECUTION MAY BE THE ARTWORK OF I GROUP.
ALL REPORTS IN MEDIA ARE SO FAR ONLY SPECULATIONS BY PRO AND ANTI LTTE AND GOSL. NO CONCRETE EVIDENCE.
ALSO THE YOUTH IN NORTH EAST ARE REALLY FED UP WITH THE MILITARY OCCUPATION, HARRASMENT AND TORTURES IN JAFFNA PENINSULA. HOWEVER THE ANTI LTTE TAMIL POLITICIANS AND GOSL TRIES TO WHITEWASH THIS FACT OR DISTORT IT; FACT IS A FACT.
WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT SINHALA YOUTH IN GALLE OR COLOMBO..... WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TAMIL YOUTH WHO HAD SUFFERED PAST 20 YEARS WITH THE BLOODY WAR... THEY ARE VICTIMS.... THEIR PSCHYCHOLOGY IS DIFFERENT.
THEY KNOW NO COMPUTER, NO TRAIN, NO ELECTRICITY, NO DISCO, NOT GALLE FACE, NO PEACE.... THEY WILL REACT THE WAY MANIPULATED.
NATURALLY THESE YOUNSTERS GET MANIPULATED BY LTTE FOR THEIR POLITICAL ENDS.
SO WHY DON'T WE ADDRESS THE CAUSE FOR SUCH INCIDENTS BY REMOVING MILLITARY OCCUPATION IN NORTH EAST?.... |

i have been following you secretly and you do contribute some excellent of your knowledge sir.
you should consider to snatch the name fairplay and im aware there is some one called fairpaly already in this forum and his name realy dont match his posts.
if you snatch the name fairplay from him and i would like to suggest the the original fairplay that he should call him self 'fartplay'.
he most probably will like that suggested name.

You and those like you have ruined this country during the last 57 years. Sinhalese governments and racist journalists have tarnished the country and Lord Buddha in the eyes of the international community. The Presidents Truth Commission clearly said in its report that the 1983 riots was engineered by the Colombo press and carried by thugs using government vehicles by publishing the killings of 13 soldiers in Jaffna and blacking out the retaliatory killings of 56 Tamils civilians by the army.
Both the army and the President informed everybody that it was the soldiers? gun that killed the young barber and the angry mobs killed the police officer SP Wijewardena in retaliation. The President further conceded that those soldiers contravened in carrying guns to a barber saloon when there is a saloon into the army camp. You cannot hide the truth from the world by quoting any web.
You quote from the discredited sources Asiatribunes.com and Thenee.com manned anti-Tamil journalists paid by racist organizations including the government. Even if a true report printed in those websites are disbelieved by the world. Tamils know that the Island and Divaina too anti-Tamil and they see them with skepticism.
You are anti-Srilanka as you go against the people and the country. Electorates demonstrated on many elections that they want peace but you want to bring in the racist parties like JVP and JHU by the back door. We live by begging and printing money. If these racists come to power no help from abroad and even the elitist like you people with your parental inheritance cannot maintain your style of living.
Martial TITO a true socialist kept Yugoslavia as a united country but the racist Milosovic like your JVP claimed a leftist but disintegrated the country into various states, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo and many more. Very soon JVP will divide the country into Eelam for minorities and Sri Lanka for Sinhalese. We don?t like it but we have no choice. You have a choice. |

To date (11/08/2005) I have posted approximately 197 postings in this forum. Now the CHALLENGE you have is to find a SINGLE sentence from any of my postings that conveys racism or delivers hatred against Tamils within the context it was written (The sentence should also be required to based on UN-FOPUNDED FACTS). I do not want you to quote paragraphs, but a SINGLE (ONE) sentence with the topic of the discussion and the person to whom it was directed. THAT IS ALL I AM ASKING YOU.

You are quite good at reiterating the discrimination and injustice happened to Tamils of Sri Lanka as many others of this forum do. We know about it and as Singhalese ,today we do not deny those. The failure of many of the Tamils of today is to critically analyze whether the path which they had taken against those acts, did bring any peace, prosperity or justice to the same Tamils or the changes which had occurred in the Singhalese society accepting those mistakes is the key to the resolution of the conflict. If the war path which you have chosen had borne fruits over 30 years why this discussion is necessary today? Obviously it is not the case. The military path had been an utter failure to bring peace and prosperity to Tamils. It had brought only destruction, displacement of life and humiliation.
The hypocrisy is forgetting how Jaffna was 30-40 years ago. Was there Soldiers every corner of the street? Was there any Singhalese harassing a Tamil in North and East. Our country was very peaceful . The Tamils were able to go any where in this country .These were facts. Singhalese Public did not harass them .Even today Tamils are safe in Singhalese dominated areas where Singhalese are not safe in Tamil areas. Constitutional changes were made in SL by chauvinists of 19th century ideologies though they lived in the mid 20th century. Today We do need constitutional changes too no doubt about it.
I still believe SWRD?s Singhalese only act was wrong. But I learnt to understand that he was an opportunist but not a racist. There were many racist in Sri Lankan politics after him. However one of the better out come of the Singhala only act was the prominence given to the vernacular education. Do any one of you Tamils think that Sri Lanka should have kept the education only in English?Infact the winners of the Singhala only act and the vernacular education was mainly the Tamils until 1971. The main reason was it reached the majority of the public both Singhala and Tamil speaking who were not affluent, the education in their own language, but Singhalese never paid attention to learn Tamil ,but Tamils did learn Singhalese who had the vision to do better than the rest.
Last Saturday We were all invited to a dinner by a Tamil family from Eastern Part of SL. This was the first time we had a chance ,our two families to have a quiet get together ,one of the finest evenings you will remember for ever; nothing to beat a Sri Lankan meal cooked by a Tamil woman and her hospitality. We were told some stories which I do not read on this forum. The lady of the house was so angry that 26 years ago Tamils in Baticalo killed the Singhales sent to teach Singhalese language . She said ,we never had a problem with Singhalese ,the next day we brought the Sri Lankan Army there. And our kids could not learn proper Singhalese what they speak now is that they picked from soldiers. If LTTE is not there the Singhalese army does not trouble us. The SLA threw a hand grenade to my house because LTTE set up a claymore mine on a bicycle in front of our house and ambushed them. My daughter was all by her self in the house, they saw her asked her to run and threw the hand grenade in to the house. One of the sons go to the university here he had been picked up twice at age 14 to be sent to LTTE camps but taken out from the truck it self because of a relative which had some influence. These people are not the Tamil elite but hard working people who came a long way and want peace and they believe they can live with Singhalese peacefully and hate LTTE for their violent attitude. |

I guess I'm quite late here and I havent read all of the comments except the latest ones.
No one's going to be 100% racism-free. The conscience of each and everyone here is going to be biased atleast a tad because of our own origins. I am interracial and I myself come from a family where 2 of my close uncles - one Tamil and one Sinhalese (an ASP and a HQI) were brutally killed at the hands of the LTTE - hence I believe I might be a little less biased in my views than any of you here who does not come from such a background.
In this case a Tamil boy was shot (accidentally or not, we dont know the truth and perhaps will never know) and as a revenge for that the LTTE killed the Sinhalese SP. Is this such a big problem to fathom? This is exactly what has been happening in our motherland for the past few decades! Tit-for-tat attitude, like Kindergarten kids! I'm not justifying the SP's death - it's callous and quite a childish step of vengeance. But so is the boy's death if it was done intentionally. And we always were in the dark with political news from Jaffna or anywhere in Sri Lanka for that matter. YOU AND I DONT KNOW THE TRUTH YET - the media tells us fairy tales most of the time, so please don't rely just on them, see beyond what your naked eye can see.
Even if you know the truth nothing's going to change over there unless steps are taken by all of us to iradicate terrorism! All I can say is this useless war will go on forever till it has swallowed millions of lives. Unless one of the 2 sides gets a grip of their conscience and do something worthwhile, something different to peace-out, we will all so blissfully be in this deep well forever. We all know we are tired of playing tit-for-tat - time for the attitude to change and terrorism to halt...we know that violence can never bring peace - btw they are antonyms! So why do we still take that approach? We got to find the reason for that to solve this on-going vengeance game!
Vanhellsing I agree with ya. I cant understand people who praise terrorists no matter how personally justifiable their actions may be...terrorism is terrorism!
Nirupam what nonsense are you talking about? Are you saying terrorism is the way to go? Now I understand that the SL goverment isnt the fairest government in the world but they are ultimatley the lawfully chosen leaders of Sri Lanka, arent they? Any terrorist group in the world on the other hand forcefully takes the law into their own bloody hands...u say that's right? Even millions of Tamils have suffered because of the LTTE so dont always go 'you are anti-Tamil you r anti-this and anti-that'. That division in thinking is the reason why we Sri Lankans are so doomed.
