| I strongly feel that the parents are to be blamed for Yvonne's death. Especially the mother, as a born Sri Lankan the mother should have had a close tab on the daughter. I am sure this is a good lesson for all high society/class families to care for your children more. |

You stupid morans ( University students ) have no right to blame international schools for this kind of behaviour or wealthy parents sending their kids to international schools.
I've seen many local school boys especially Isipathana, Lumbini and Ananda boys loitering in places such as Majestic City, Liberty Plaza and Crescat.They harass passerby girl had ladies and make unwanted comments some using filth.
I know that most international school students go to Night Clubs for a night out, but they keep their enjoyment to themselves and they don't make any unwanted comments or gestures. This murder is a one off incident and Colombo International School - CIS ( The Best International School in Sri Lanka )nor the International School culture is responsible for this unhuman like act of this person.
CIS sdtudents enter some very good universities like Harvard, Yale, Wharton, Kellogg, Sloan, Stamford, MIT.
Those universities have the best in the world and they are good at judging people than the Stupid Local Universities.
If local students are so good why aren't they unable toenter those big universities.
People who blame International Schools should take into account the raggings whisch are taking place in the so called good local universities. ( I local school teacher who abducted a student ) |

| The walls of denial among Sri Lankians must be very thick. Your people have been blowing each other up for the past twenty years. Do you really think ANYBODY needs to leave Sri Lanka to be exposed to violence and killing. You must be joking to blame western culture and influences in this murder case. Are you really so unaware of the violence within your own country? The amount of finger pointing in these postings amazes me. This boy of affluence was neglected by his Sri Lankan parents, he has a history of acting out his pain. Western culture did not parent him or teach him or cause his pain. His parents, from Sri Lanka, did that. As an American, I can honestly say that one of the biggest problems in this country today, is a society of people not willing to take responsiblity for themselves. Thier actions, thier decisons, it sad and pathetic. If you don't want to be like us, don't act like us. Put the blame where it belongs. On the perpetrator. |

Best international school in Sri Lanka is CIS, Mawilmada Kandy???
I thought Gateway is better...he he even Lyceum is better than CIS outfit in Kandy... |

Many people claim that (CIS) is the best and their students are everywhere.
let me ask one question.
Has this school produced any national level athlete who brought glory to Sri Lanka or outstanding scholer,scientist or any outstanding social worker in Sri lanka or abroad?
can anybody name few? I am just qurious because I dont have any idea
These are the measurements through which you can measure the service of a school or university to the country. |

I read your bashing to America and anti American feeling, I am not living in America now,but I lived there before. I can say Ameriaca is the best country to live as I see it.
Other thing is there is nothing called Amerian culture. It is western culture, but American freedom,i.e. freedom for individuals.For many people western culture has become Ameriacan culture. so when you blame Amerian culture you are really blaming western culture.
may be you have misundertood the western culture because what we see in Sri lanka is not western culture. it is a photocopy, in Other words a kind of Stupid western culture.you have to understand the elements of western culture to see the underlying values.
There are so many similarities between Buddhism and Western Culture. When Buddha first preached the buddhism he was visualizing what is happening in the west now.(not western culture practiced those days) like discriminating against lower cast people, against women, taking care of patient,arms giving and many more. All these values are really practising in the west. Though he did nt see the europe, he wanted to make india like a europe to eradicate all social injustices. The same philosophy is now practically happening in europe as western culture.
So take some time to understand it, and try to think how we can develop ourselves by learning from it.
We have been practising eastern culture for 2500 years, and where are we now? It really shows that eastern culture is not going to develop ourseflves or our country or solve our problems. so time to change, quicker we change, it is better for us. |

Yeah...if there are any one like that ...we accept that CIS is a good college...Though we never talked about CIS ...we took it as a benchmark to demonstrate the whole int'l education culture in SL...and its the culture that we are talking about...not the education...
so sad that many couldn't understand even that simple thing...
