Tigers express inability to handle rehabilitation
Thursday, 3 February 2005 - 12:08 AM SL Time

Tamil rebels have said they were not capable of handling the post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction work.
They said they needed government support in the badly-affected northern and eastern parts of the country.

In marked contrast to their previous position, the Head of the Sea Tiger unit of the rebels, `Colonel` Soosai, has declared that without any assistance from the government they would not be able to complete their tasks of reconstruction.

`There should be government officials for any committee appointed for the reconstruction of tsunami-hit areas in the North-East representing all ethnic groups in each district,` Soosai told the state-run Daily News in an interview published yesterday.

The comments from the rebel were an indication of the nature of the serious damage inflicted in the rebel-controlled areas.

The rebel area leader had expressed optimism that the ongoing discussions between the Peace Secretariats of the Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam would be successful, with the government agreeing to appoint a committee to facilitate the reconstruction process in the North-East.

Soosai said they expect to relocate 1,850 displaced families from 13 villages in the coastal district of Mullaitivu as they need to release all schools occupied by the refugees. They hope to complete the process by February 15.

He said some of the areas had been wiped off the map along the coastal areas of Mullaitivu. (Gulf News)

We have read articles of military precision work by the Wanni in the aftermath of the tsunami.

Suddenly, they have hit a snag disclosing unable handle rehabilitation.

Certainly, the GOSL can weigh in & that it should be done gladly. But how would the tamil terrorists reciprocate ?

Once the Wanni is rehabilitated, they have no problems other than to collect funds funds through taxes levied & from foreign sources to pay their employees absorbed into their civil structure & they have no unemployment as a result.

Will they lend a hand to the GOSL to solve theirs or oush on from thereafter for ISAG ?

Lets strike a reasonable balance. May the sanity prevail as SL is longway off in getting even with the rest of the developed world.
