Kural:
Everyone believe whatever he/she wanna believe. People don't see what they don't like to see. For example, you never saw or heard the news about LTTE killing an innocent girl trying to prevent conscription of her brother. That is because you don't want to see that.
Now regarding JP. In the east, it is very difficult for prominent tamils to be impartial. From one side you have Karuna. From the other side you have LTTE. If you are a prominent fella like JP, you have to support one party. Then the other party is your enemy. He would perhaps been safe in Colombo under GOSL security. Didn't he go to parliment all these days without any problem? I would like to hear your honest and civil comments.
I rest my case.

Dear Poet:
I am sorry to hear your comments. What I said was major part of Batticaloe is now controlled by LTTE not Karuna.I saw recently LTTE claims Karuna is living in India. Karuna was not a govt soldier but a part of the military wing of LTTE. Why he has gone against LTTE?. JP was killed because LTTE was not happy with him as he encouraged people to vote at the recent presidential election.Do you think because of that Tamils should not cast their votes at presidential election?. See how many Tamils live in south with other communities. We must encourage Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims and other communities to live together. Tamils will not get a separate part from India (Tamil Nadu) or Sri Lanka (N-E part) or Australia or Malaysia or Canada (Scarborough).
I personally do not like killing people weather they are done by EPRLF, LTTE or government military forces.
What we have to understand is Sri Lanka is the country of all of us and if there are problems we must discuss them and solve. Using bullet is not the solution for it. That is why JP had to face this situation. |

LTTE confers 'Maamanithar' title to Pararajasingham
TamilNet, December 25, 2005 15:17 GMT
Leader of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Velupillai Pirapaharan, bestowed the title Maamanithar (Great Humanbeing) on the slain Senior Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham Sunday. 'Steadfast and honest, he is an excellent political leader. The Tamil people affectionately hailed him as a formidable fighter for human rights. His extra-ordinary attachment to the Tamil cause gravitated all towards him. The demise of Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham is an irreparable loss to the Tamil Nation,' Pirapaharan said in the statement conferring the award.
Full text the letter conferring the Maamanithar title follows:
Head Quarters
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam
Tamil Eelam
25 December 2005
The Tamil Nation has lost today a noble man who sacrificed personal ambitions and set a goal working resolutely for the welfare of his people. Silenced today is a voice that relentlessly resonated the freedom of the Tamil homeland and its people. A great man had fallen victim to the enemy's cowardly act of cruelty. It is a great tragedy in the history of the Tamil Eelam freedom struggle.
Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham is a person blessed with rare and incredible qualities. Melodious interaction, simple manners and magnanimity in approach are the hallmarks of his personality. Steadfast and honest, he is an excellent political leader. The Tamil people affectionately hailed him as a formidable fighter for human rights. His extra-ordinary attachment to the Tamil cause gravitated all towards him. The demise of Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham is an irreparable loss to the Tamil Nation.
It was never to his liking to live under Sinhala Budhdhist majoritarian oppression. He totally detested the disintegration of the collective Tamil Nation under this oppression and subjugation. Setting as his noble goal absolute freedom from this oppressive state, he worked for the independence, dignity and peaceful life of the Tamil people. Motivated by this noble goal, he steadfastly supported the Tamil National freedom struggle. Respecting and accepting wholeheartedly the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and their goal, he contributed immensely to the liberation struggle of the Tamil people. Complex situations, threats and dangers did not deter him from courageously extending his helping hands to Tamil Nationalism and the Tamil Eelam liberation struggle in many ways.
As a Member of Parliament representing the people of Batticaloa and a founder member of the NorthEast Secretariat on Human Rights, he worked relentlessly in pursuit of the rights of the people of Tamil Eelam. Presenting the truth and reasonableness of the Tamil Eelam liberation struggle to the world, was a mission he undertook with passion. The yeoman services he rendered are praiseworthy and of historical significance.
Respecting Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham's patriotism and love of freedom and to honour his contribution to the freedom struggle, I confer on him with pride the highest National Award of 'Great Man'. Death never destroys noble men who lived to uphold truthful goals. Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham will live forever in the psyche of the Tamil Nation as an epoch making leader.

Sri Lanka killing sparks war fears
Unidentified gunmen shot and killed pro-rebel legislator Joseph Pararajasingham as he attended midnight Mass at a church in eastern Sri Lanka, the Defence Ministry said.
The killing sparked fears of a return to civil war in the island nation.
The attackers fired at Pararajasingham, 71, during the Christmas service at St. Michael's Church in Batticaloa, the site of frequent skirmishes between rebel factions, military spokesman Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe said.
Pararajasingham's wife, Sugunam, and eight others, were injured in the shooting and are being treated in hospital. Pararajasingham's bodyguards returned fire, but it was not known if any of the assailants were wounded.
A police officer in Batticaloa, eastern Sri Lanka's main town, said the lawmaker died on the spot after two assailants fired four shots into his chest.
Pararajasingham, a former part-time journalist, represented the Tamil National Alliance, a proxy party of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, which has been fighting the government for two decades for a Tamil homeland for Sri Lanka's 3.2 million ethnic Tamil minority.
A pro-rebel internet site reported the incident without comment. There was no claim of responsibility, but a breakaway faction of the rebels is known to oppose the Alliance.
Batticaloa was the scene of several bloody battles between the rebels after a powerful eastern commander and his followers split from the main insurgency group last year.
The uprising was ruthlessly suppressed by the main rebel group, but sympathy for the breakaway leader - known as Karuna - remains strong among Tamils in the east.
The Tigers also accuse the Sri Lankan military of backing Karuna's faction, an accusation the military denies.

you were attacking me as I'm a man eater on the other thread because i praised UPF(upraising people front) for their revenge attack on SLN.
I UNDERSTAND that you would like to see the rape and murder culprit of tharsini brought to court.
what you must understand is those culprits who committed a day massacre at binduwenna hasn't punished to bring justice.
so your lip service and your crocodile tears are not more than a waste of your energy.
so please try to educate your self and your kins and kiths, not Tamils in this forum.
thank you daughter of eelam. |
