Air Force refuses to fly DPLs to Wanni
Sunday, 25 December 2005 - 1:10 AM SL Time

A top diplomatic delegation comprising the peace process co-chairs, who rushed to hold emergency talks with the LTTE leadership yesterday, failed to make a breakthrough during the 2½ hour talks in rebel-held Kilinochchi but stressed the need for both the Sri Lankan government and the Tigers to meet at the earliest to prevent the country from sliding back to war.

The delegation comprising representatives from Britain, Japan and the European Union were accompanied by peace broker Norway to meet the LTTE`s political chief S.P. Thamilselvan. The United States which is a part of the quartet did not send a representative to Kilinochchi as such travel is prohibited following the U.S.

ban on the Tigers. The co-chairs had `expressed their deep concern about the recent escalation of violence,` an European Union statement said, after the meeting.

`Sri Lanka faces a crucial choice today between mounting violence and reinvigorating peace. The Sri Lankan people clearly want peace -- it would be a tragic step backward if their desire was not heeded,` the strongly worded statement said.

The Co-chairs had also stressed the need for the LTTE to agree to hold talks with the government on implementing the ceasefire. The Sunday Times learns that the diplomats had expressed their condemnation about the surge of violence but the Tigers had totally denied involvement in the attacks including the one that killed 13 sailors on Friday.

Mr. Thamilselvan had blamed the attacks on `civilian organizations,` that were harassed and perturbed by the security forces. He had promised to speak to `sympathizers,` in an attempt to defuse the situation. The straight-faced political chief had also said the Tigers were committed to the truce.

Also at the meeting, Japan`s ambassador Akio Suda had reiterated an invitation to hold truce talks in Tokyo, but the Tigers insisted on a European destination, preferably Oslo.

`The Tamil leadership is firm and will oppose Colombo`s effort on imposing geographical limitations and preconditions on the venue of talks on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and thereby alienating the Liberation Tigers from European countries,` Mr. Thamilselvan told the media after the meeting. On their return to Colombo, the diplomats went straight into a meeting with top government officials handling the peace process to brief them on the outcome. Yesterday marked four-years since the unilateral truce declared by the LTTE on December 2004, 2001.

This month has clearly been the bloodiest with at least 20 soldiers, 15 sailors and three policemen killed in suspected rebel attacks. The government had earlier conveyed its displeasure for diplomats to visit the northern rebel stronghold but reversed its decision after a meeting on Friday between the co-chairs and Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremenayake, hours after suspected Tamil Tigers blew up a navy convoy. The diplomats said their leaders wanted them to meet the LTTE to convey in the strongest possible manner their concern about the deteriorating situation that threatens to unravel Sri Lanka`s fragile truce.

But security forces commanders had expressed reservations about flying the delegation into rebel-controlled territory. So they were transported by air force helicopter to Vavuniya and had to make the difficult road trip in the SLMM vehicle to Kilinochchi.

The LTTE know the attacks against the SLA and the SL Navy will pay of. The VIP's is running as scared chickens to the LTTE and beg for mercy and new talks. The SL chief beggar a.k.a. President Rajapakse will cave into the terrorist demands and go to Oslo and sign another worthless agreement with an intoxicated Anton Balasingham. The genocide against the Tamil dissident will continue and so will the sporadic attack against the humiliated SL Army.

The SLA big brass will continue to allow the senseless LTTE slaughter of their soldiers, recruited from the poor families. Generals who dare to say enough is enough, will be replaced or get an early retirement.

The Norwegians will assist the GOSL beggars, because they have invested their prestige in this so called facilitation. Norwegian facilitation always fails so this is their last desperate attempt to save this project. President Rajapakse will probably get his friends projects financed by Norwegian Foreign Aid if he signs another CFA.

The Sri Lankan tragedy will continue. The LTTE will continue to buy weapons to arm kidnapped Tamil children. The Tamil Diaspora will continue to be duped to believe their funds are used to help disabled war casualties. In fact they are financing another generation disabled and prostitutes to the LTTE peace delegations.

Rajapakse and the Colombo big wigs will continue to fill up their and their friend?s pockets with funds from Norway, Japan and other VIP nations who want to make a name for them in the 'facilitation'.

Sri Lankan's, Sinhalese/Tamils/Muslims/Burgers, when will you be feed up to be taken for a ride by the LTTE and the GOSL?

During the first phase of talks, GOSL should talk only ways how to stop LTTE killings, child conscription, stopping extortions in the GOSL areas and withdrawing from GOSL areas until LTTE firm insurance that they are for a political solution. LTTE also should allow SLMM in LTTE areas.

According to the latest news, it seems that SL forces have started to respond LTTE in the language they understand. Truce monitors have been suspended work due to the lack of security in the area.

Last year during this time, tsunami wave brought tears to all irrespective of ethnicity, religious or language.

This year WAR.

Its truely entertaining to watch these JVP Monkeys in action :) :). I have been watching them silently for the past few days and each one is falling over the other to give advise on how Motta rala should do this and that.

First they went and elected a COMPLETLE BRAINLESS BUFFELO as president - EXACTLY AS THE LTTE WANTED. Now its all PATHETIC excuses to cover up Motta rala.

The LTTE wanted Motta rala as president cos

1. this donkey has no idea how to handle the peace process.
2. Has NO clue how to handle foreign policy.
3. Has no clue how to handle the economy.
4. Cant offer a viable solution to the TAmils based on a Federal set up.

A PERFECT siutaiton for the LTTE to go back to war. The LTTE is a TERRORIST Organization and they are doing what they are good at - Killing. An Organization like the LTTE finds it diffucult to survive during peace times. SO for them the best is to go back to war as soon as possible. All they needed was a good excuse and the southern fools gave it in the Form of a BUFFELLO as president.

Now there is no point in Crying. All you got to do is go and fight the LTTE, like real men. But then again, for a pack of jokers who know only to HOOT on stages - what do they know about Being 'real men'.

The sad part is - only those poor sinhala and muslim boys go and die. People like Wimal WeeraMONKEY, Mangala P*nnaweera, HOmo Wansa Amarasingha, will continue to HOOT on stages. People like Jay-r, Anu D, will HOOT on this forum... Im truely enjoying this carnival.... :) :)

Hello thamil :

U dont need to be a prophet to see these things. All you need is COMMON SENCE - something which Motta rala or the JVP or some of these fools who are screaming on this forum have never had, and will never ever have.

watching this whole thing is just like watching a HUGE train wreck in SLOW MOTION.

Thamil:

Why tamils should have 'special privilages over other ethnic groups.

Do not you understand that these loud tamils are racist and asking privilages over other ethnic groups and that is unfair, racist.

LTTE and LTTE supporters, te way they talk, they are racist because they are anti - sinhala, anti buddhist and their anti-hindu sentiment is less claer in the web except in jaffna because they are killing hindu priests.

NOTE:

Probably Lankanewspapers.com is not aware. there may be other servers try to stop people who are talking against LTTE in the forum.

Generally unidentified gunmen are always LTTE.

LTTE is aginst some TNA MPS.

They have even Sambandan and at least one more TNA - MP in their list. Some say even Thondaman will be a target when the time comes.

Karuna people are not active now.

SLMM stops monitoring in Jaffna, says university students' demo was not peaceful.

On December 19, Jaffna University students held a demonstration in Jaffna town. ?They not only pelted stones at the security forces, but tried to enter the SLMM?s office forcibly,? the Monitoring Chief said.

?This could not be called a peaceful demonstration. It was a very dangerous thing,? he said. ?There were some youngsters who were the principal actors in all demonstrations in Jaffna and these were identifiable. The security forces should arrest them,? he added.
