The true Buddhist Bhikkus will not be interested.
The fake Bhikkus (or 'ganayas' as we call them) like Messers Medhananda, Rathana and Sobhitha may use the option to 'marry' their abittayas. (I mean even the abittayas like Calculator will qualify) |

If Sri Lanka introduces a law that legalises same sex marriage I'm sure much of the Catholic church will be overjoyed. Haven't you read the news lately? Most Catholic priests are homosexuals (closet homosexuals - see the TIME magazine article) and there has been a huge outcry among the gay community over moves by the Catholic Church to ban homosexual priests. That would mean almost half or more than half the Catholic priests will lose their jobs. |

What I do remember reading about also is that Sri Lankan Catholic priest who fled to Sri Lanka from the USA during the time when the Catholic Church was being exposed as a paradise of paedophilia and child abuse.
He had been accused of forcing young boys - all 16 of them - to undergo oral sex with him. I'm not sure what became of that, the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka probably gave him sanctuary and sent him to some rural diocese just like the Catholic Church in the USA just transferred the paedophile priests to other areas.
As the media reported the hierarchy of the Catholic Church were involved in convering up the child abuse of Catholic priests. |

It's probably not a myth thamil. There are so called 'deviants' in every religious community. But I haven't read a news article of any Buddhist monks sleeping with young boys.
But that doesnt mean it doesn't exist.
Homosexuality has been a part of humanity for a long long time. It would be wrong to believe that it doesn't exist in certain communities.
And paedophilia is not relegated simply to Catholics or Buddhists. Hindu priests have been doing it for a long time with the devdasi tradition practiced in Hindu kovils. |
