The only people creating communal tension are those rabid Christian priests who think that Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims are under the influence of 'Satan.'

These backward and ignorant Christian priests and their moronic followers like you think that all non-Christians are somehow evil people who need to be 'saved' and 'brought to the light of Jesus Christ.'

Christian fundamentalists in Sri Lanka are creating religious tension through their provocative actions of trying to gain converts through hook and crook. It is not unique to Sri Lanka it is happening in India as well, and violence has broken out.

Educate yourself about what these CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALISTS (to be differentiated from moderate Christians) are doing around the world instead of continuing to pretend as if they are angels. They are not.

Or are you some sort of altar boy?

Looks like Americans are beginning to see the truth about the Christian evangelists and their unethical and aggressive proselytism activities in other parts of the world.

But when it comes to Sri Lanka we have total and utter noobs like Magha and Naleen who deny everything and pretend as if Christian fundamentalists are sweet little angels who do nothing wrong.

From New York Press:

'...But the presence of the missionaries raises a more basic question: what were they doing there in the first place? What on Earth gives some people the right to decide that their view of God or nature or destiny is the right one? What permits them to conclude that other people pointlessly labor with false gods and false values and need to see the light?

Missionaries are frank imperialists. But because they operate in the spiritual realm, they continue to enjoy a fuzzy kind of permission to conduct a kind of business that is largely impossible in other less ethereal spheres of life.

But it seems objectionable and kind of cheap to help people only because you think their moral and spiritual lives are seriously imperfect and they should accept your particular set of beliefs. The same issue plagues the awkward Bush plan to supply funds to domestic religious groups providing social services of various kinds. The fear exists that these groups will want to deliver salvation with soup and strive to convert the souls of those whose bodies benefit from public money'

There are plenty of 'proofs.'

Obviously Christian fundamentalists such as yourself don't even accept personal testimonials printed in newspapers in Sri Lanka.

Obviously Christian fundamentalists such as yourself don't even accept it despite the fact that even the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka has agreed that unethical methods of proselytism are used to gain converts to Christianity

All you know is to thump the Bible and scream about Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims being under the supposed influence of 'Satan.'

Excerpts from a Christian writer (of the enlightened and moderate/liberal school) - not neo facist Christian fundamentalists like Naleen who deny everything and try to act like total saints.

Sri Lanka needs more more moderate and liberal Christians and less Christian fundamentalists.

Unethical craft of conversion - By Francis Gautier

**************************************
**************************************

'Unfortunately, there has crept in the purity of the early Christianity an exclusiveness, a feeling of sole proprietary right over God. This exclusiveness, this feeling amongst Christians, that 'we are the only true religion, and all other gods are false gods', has had the most catastrophic and bloody consequences: millions have been killed in the name of Christ, entire civilisations, such as the Atzecs and Incas, have been wiped out, 'to bring them the word of Jesus'. Even Christians have savagely murdered each other, whether in France or England. One would have hoped that this intolerance, this fanatical and militant drive to convert, forcibly or otherwise, pagans to the 'True' God, had ceased in this new millennium of 'enlightenment.

But conversions in India of low caste Hindus and tribals by Christian missionaries are sometimes nothing short of fraudulent and shameful. American, Australian, or Norwegian missionaries are investing huge amounts of money in India, which come from donation drives in their countries, where gullible Christians think their dollars or Euros are going towards uplifting 'poor and uneducated Indians.'

It is common in Kerala, for instance, particularly in the poor coastal districts, to have 'miracle boxes' put in local churches. The innocent villager writes out a paper mentioning his wish: A fishing boat, a loan for a house, fee for child's schooling... And lo, a few weeks later, the miracle happens!

And, of course, the whole family converts, making others in the village follow suit! Missionaries also make extensive use of 'miracle' prayer meeting trick, where a glib preacher persuades naive tribals that a miracle is happening in their midst, while encouraging them to convert.

I'm showing you how Christian fundamentalism and unethical methods of proselytism are NOT UNIQUE to Sri Lanka. You're claiming that only Sri Lankans seem to have a problem with it and it doesn't exist elsewhere, and hence it must not exist. Wake up and smell the roses.

---------------------------------------------------------

It is especially the tribals and Hindus living below the poverty line who are being targeted. It's not just that conversion is an unethical custom; it also threatens a whole way of life, erasing centuries of tradition, customs, wisdom. It teaches people to despise their own religion and look westwards to a culture which is alien to them, with disastrous results.

Western missionaries (and their governments) would like us to believe that democracy includes the freedom to convert by any means. But France, for example, a traditionally Christian country, has a Minister who is in charge of hunting down 'sects'. And by sects, what is meant is any group that does not fall within the recognised family of Christianity, specially anything that is a Hindu flavour: There is not a single Hindu temple in France and all recent applications for the construction of one have been rejected.

######################################################

The message of Christ is one of Love, of respecting other's cultures and creed - not of utilising devious and unethical means for converting people. It is false to say that Jesus is the only 'true' God. The Divine has manifested Himself throughout the ages under different names and identities, whether it is Christ, Buddha, Krishna or Mohammed. Let this be the motto of the 21st century. Only then will true spirituality emerge, beyond all religions and intolerances.

When? Now

Where? All over Sri Lanka, especially in rural and remote Sri Lanka where most if not all villages are close to 100% Buddhist or 100% Hindu or 100% Muslim

How? By providing aid, in return for conversion to Christianity. By providing loans, in return for converting to Christianity. By 'planting churches' in virtually 100% Buddhist and Hindu villages.

By Whom? Christian fundamentalists organizations like Kithu Sevana.

Give us some solid proof we can check...

Tell us just 5 names of people who have been converted by Kitu Sevana and their telephone numbers....I ask only for 5 names and their phone numbers, so we can check the validity of your statement...

Yes, I *am* the brainwashed one - no matter that journalists all around the world have been writing about Christian fundamentalists and how they use unethical methods of proselytism to gain converts.

The problem lies with people like you who refuse to see the wrong that Christian fundamentalists do when they go about trying to convert all the so called 'heathens' to the supposed 'true religion' through the most devious and unethical of methods.

Read the papers and follow the news articles and inquire about this from the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka itself. I'm not your servant.

Organized conversion efforts are quite another matter than the common dialogue and interchange between members of different religious communities in daily life, or even than organized discussions in forums or academic settings. Organized conversion activity is like a trained army invading a country from the outside.

This missionary army often goes into communities where there is little organized resistance to it, or which may not even be aware of its power or its motives. It will even take advantage of communities that are tolerant and open minded about religion and use that to promote a missionary agenda that destroys this tolerance.

This is what has happened in Sri Lanka.
