Waruna, still running away from those questions?
Mokada? ahapu prashna walata denna uththara nedda?
If you are a person with any kind of backbone stand up to what you supposedly claim directly. Substantiate your claims rather than fantasising with hypothetically unrealistic figments of your immagination. It seems the only way out for you to avoid answering my questions is to cast personal remarks at me and others which even you know aren't factual. You are cutting a pathetic immage here Waruna.
In lighter vein I too feel that something untoward has happened to Waruna at the catholic school and the possibility is that what Magha has said has indeed happened to Waruna! Edited By - kiwikanga - 22 Dec 2005 22:32:55 GMT |

Kiwikanga, Magha, Thamil, Rukshan, Fairplay and all,
I am really proud of you guys!
I was worried that Sri Lanka was becoming another Taliban with the JHU mad cheevaradharees and their abittayas pouring oil to communal fires and creating a Buddhist-Christian hatred - which was simply non-existent till December 2003.
The thinking of you guys still show that we can still have a hope for united Lanka where all the communities can live peacefully, and no community is being insulted by another.
True Buddhists never insult any other religion. True Buddhists always respect other religions. The JHU cheevaradharees should be immediately disrobed because they are a bane to the compassionate and tolerant Buddhist society.
This land belongs to you - this land belings to me
This land belongs to all of us - to live in HARMONY! |

Naleen,
Glad to know that you too do not tolerate racial and religious discrimination .
As you said there is no unethical proselytism happening in our country. If those Evangelists are exploiting the poverty in this country to convert poor people to Evangelism ,then how about our own Sinhalese Buddhist monks exploiting the poverty of Sinhalese villagers to ordain their male children as priests.
Unfortunately present Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayake was behind the drive of ordaining one thousand poor Singhalese village boys as Buddhist priests with false pretense that Buddhism was in danger, exploiting the poverty and innocence of our uneducated people when he held the same position from 1995 -2000.
Being a Singhalese Buddhist I would like to emphasize that all this hullabaloo and violence started after 'Soma Thera' got screwed up in St. Petersburg ,Russia ,having gone there to get a Bogus Doctorate from an unrecognized Institute funded by Evangelists, headed by a Sri Lankan Buddhist, who now call him self a Christian priest.
These Humbugs who call them selves Singhalese Buddhists belong to the same category of idiots who destroyed the ethnic harmony in our country. |

Magha,
I know why these cheevaradharees created all these nonsense.
I have once been to some extremely remote villages in Anuradhapura where Worldvision is doing some commendable work. The villages are extremely poor. Worldvision has done so many things for them. They have built agri-wells; stores to keep their harvest, built rods, helped so many villagers to build their houses etc. I have seen with my own eyes how the villagers respect them. To the villagers they are nothing short of gods...This is very reasonable, because till Worldvision has undertaken those project nobody - govt or otherwise - had done nothing to them...
Now the cheevaradharees in the village temple get naturally annoyed because they lose their control over the villagers. That is why they go on inventing these rubbish about 'unethical conversions'...
Has JHU ever helped any poor Sinhalese villagers? Have the JHU cheevaradharees who earn a good income every helped the poor in our country? Are the poor not Sinhalese Buddhists?
There are many so-called Sinhalayas who enjoy the luxury of foreign climates and try to teach us how to run the country! Do these ?Sinhalayas? ever help the poor in our society? |

Unethical Conversions do exist in Sri Lanka.
People like Magha and Naleen who deny it have their heads buried in the sand.
Bankrupt and immoral Christian priests who engage in buying souls for the God should be kicked out of Sri Lanka as soon as possible and/or made to face consequences.

Join us in Prayer - By Rob Gowland
I had a very interesting talk with a journalist from Sri Lanka the other day. Among other things, he spoke of the spread of fundamentalism on the island. Oh, not Islamic fundamentalism but Christian fundamentalism.
It seems that Sri Lanka has been invaded by a multitude of reactionary Christian fundamentalist churches from the USA ? Baptists, Assemblies of God, and a lot of others.
They are all lavishly cashed up, and they pursue the same tactics.
The most popular method is to go to poor villages or poor urban areas, and display an interest in how the people are coping with poverty.
Then they encourage everyone to 'join them in prayer'.
The next day, when those same poor people get up, they find on their doorstep milk, fruit, packets of food, children's clothes etc. Like the poor cobbler and the elves, it seems like a dream come true.
A day or two later, the Christians return, asking innocently how things are going, has anything interesting happened?
Then they make their big play: the goodies left overnight were in fact left by the Christian God in answer to their prayers a day or so earlier.
Having demonstrated that their religion actually works, they set about signing up recruits.
Of course, it's a simple coupling of bribery to credulity, but with lots of money at their disposal the fundamentalist Western Churches are able to produce tangible benefits for people who have nothing.
Small wonder that with such blatant huckstering tactics, the Christian fundamentalists are making converts in a big way. And not just among Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims.
The fundamental churches are making inroads into the followers of mainstream Christian faiths especially among the Catholics.
The areas these Christian fundamentalists choose in which to dispense their largesse in order to win converts are the traditional strongholds of the left.
But while the left is urging the people to stand up for their rights, the US Christian fundamentalists are handing out cash and goods, in plentiful amounts.
It's immediate, it's tangible, it's 'real', and it's now.
Buying converts in this way must be extremely expensive, but for the very right-wing US fundamentalist churches, saving the poor of Sri Lanka from the evils of Buddhism or Communism (or both) would undoubtedly be regarded as money well spent. |

Fanatical Christian priests are at work in Sri Lanka at the moment trying to bring all the Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims (non Christians) into the facist version of Christianity that they follow. Unforunately some of the mainstream Catholic priests like Oswald Gomis are throwing tantrums left and right trying to demonised those people who are opposed to the facism of these 'Soldiers of God.'
Kethesh Loganathan who used to work with the National Peace Council had this to say about Chrsitian fundamentalist and their unethical methods of proselytism in Sri Lanka in his article 'Four major religions in Lanka: Blessing or curse?':
'...instances where converts are asked by their 'shepherd' to demonstrate their renunciation by burning the scriptures and the symbols of the religion that they hitherto believed in, are clearly acts of violence. It violates all semblance of decency and heaps scorn on those who practice those religions.
This cannot be condoned and needs to be checked, through the force of law if need be. The perpetrators of this practice are said to be some 'fundamentalist' Christian sects. These sects should be hauled before the courts and punished. The head-hunting by the new fundamentalist Christian sects is an insult to the religion that they propagate, leave alone that it insults the very souls that they seek to save...'

Of course, total morons like Magha and his resident bootlicker Naleen will continue to deny that unethical methods of proselytism are used to convert people to Christianity in Sri Lanka.

Calculator, modayo - you give the same JHU rubbish! Not an iota of evidence! Any fool can tell things like that. We need proof!
JHU cheevaradharees or any JHU abittayas have so far failed to provide a single piece of concrete proof that so-called unethical conversions exist in Sri Lanka...
Please stop pouring petrol to the communal fires. If you have nothing to do - go and sleep with Mr. Ellawala Medhananda. Please don't create communal hatred by posting rubbish... Edited By - Naleen - 27 Dec 2005 05:21:16 GMT |
