Dallas returns to House

Former Matara District Member (SLFP) and Deputy Minister of Samurdhi, in the 1994 PA Government, Dallas Alahapperuma took his oaths, before Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara, in Parliament, as a Member of Parliament, yesterday (19).
Alahapperuma has been appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of Foreign Minister Lakahman Kadirgamar.
His appointment ends speculation in certain political circles and sections of the media that former President Chandrika Kumaratunga was to be appointed to fill the vacancy in Parliament created by the assassination of Kadirgamar.
Alahapperuma took a break from politics to visit the USA for further higher education. He returned to Sri Lanka before the last Presidential Election and threw in his lot for the election campaign of President Mahinda Rajapakse.
