Kural,

Some criminals are not allowed to travel out of the country whilst on bail without having proper court permission. Some people use fake passport to leave the country illegally. These chekers can not verify your name, identity by looking at your face, they have to check your passport or picture IDs.

Yes Ashan...some people tear their passport or throw into the trash cans at the arrival airport and claim refugee. These white people know the trick and they don't ask IDs instead they issue new IDs. So, they used to that and blame SL securities for cheking the IDs.

Its the duty of armed forces to be vigilant and arrest who ever is a suspect. After investigation if the person is innocent they will be released. End of Story.
These innocent pure women should not wander around Colombo. Because its full of Rapists. Thank who ever your god is, you got caught to Police without getting raped. If you are innocent, You can go home with out any harm and as pure as you were taken in to safe hands of Sri Lankan Police.

Ashan & newbie, Thanks for the concern you've shown on the SLA.

My point is that, the SLA failed to recognize whose a Tamil and whose a Muslim. You don't need a masters degree just to look at a passport and tell them which race or country they belong to. They were incompetent'ATA PASS' fools. Wielding their guns at the checkpoints, intimidating the general public with their arrogance, is not the right way to go about.

The same checkpoint, I had to sacrifice my Foreign cigarettes on many occasions, while they did the security checks. They'd harass you if you refuse. My Sinhalese friends had to go through the same experience as I did. This is exactly what your honorable forces do taking advantage of the uniform and weapon they've been by the government.

I been through many checkpoints through out the world, but I've never come across any experience such as this. I have no problem abiding by what the state say, if they want to do a the security check by all means, since they too have a task to perform. But if they take advantage of the situation, in my eyes they are nothing but scum.

To speak a language and understand is my right Ashan, you don't have to tell me what I should do with my ability to speak and to understand a language. Not only in sri lanka, but in any part of the I should have the right to speak and understand in any language I prefer. In this case, I turned the incident in to my advantage, there for I was able to know what they spoke about us. I simply wanted to see how competent these guys were in checking this small book called a passport, which is written in all three languages.

Either they were really illiterate, as to figure out who the hell we were or again they were incompetent.

As a law abiding citizen I respect all the rules and regulations a country has to offer. I've got no problem with that. Being harassed for being some one different to who you are is totally unacceptable.

Ashan, the language you use, depicts on your parents. It shows your upbringing. Mate, don't drag your parents in to this who have given you life. You bring shame on those innocent people. The language you use on other human beings shows where your roots are from.

Ashan the Patriot,

Why don't you stop using Fake Passports for a change and rest assured SL army will not need be suspicious about you. You and your Velivettithurai thieves are well known for fraud so don't blame the army.

My dear Young man, Charity begins at home!!

Likewise Honesty,Integrity and Dedication should start at the workplace. Our officials the so called Commissioners and Asst.Commissioners are the ROGUES who issue any number of Fraud Passports and NIC to any Tom, Dick and Harry under any name for a few thousand rupees.

Corruption and Fraud at it's best. When it comes to position and perks these officials from Top down President to the local Grama Sevaka has always maintained the policy of ME,MYSELF AND I.

Please dont blame the public. If these officials didn't offer these services no one would have bought them.
These Public Administrative Officers have their own Partnership business running at the public expense and time.

Ashan,

It does not matter which passport I carry, and these fools have failed to deliver what's expected from them. Do you categorize the Christians as well as Buddhists who's gone through the same experience.

In my eyes they are nothing but 'ATA PASS FOOLS'. May be there were Sinhalese, and others, were also present in the so called Law enforcing gang. Ashan, to join the forces in to a lower rank they don't even ask for O/L results. This clearly shows their intelligence level.

By the way, get this right. I do not support the LTTE or any other organization. If someone else's rights have been trespassed I will voice my opinion. For that you don't have to be a Tamil or for that matter, according to your racist mind a LTTE supporter.

All Sinhalese that I know of are educated, well respected people. They speak about human rights. Not only about their own but also in general. Human rights apply to all, not only to srilanka.

Fairplay,

I value your input.

Ashan,

BTW you keep the forum going. You make all the educated Sinhalese look like fools with your primitive, low intelligent thinking. Keep up the great work.

Pluto100:
I am not saying SLA soldiers are 100% perfect, not only SLA, you would find corrupted and vicious soldiers even in most powerful disciplined armies in the world. Personally, I am not happy with the SL police but, SLA soldiers are less-corrupted, competent enough to follow their orders irrespective of their paper qualification. Yes, some soldiers are 'ATA PASS' but, one can not underestimate their knowledge or exertion just because of their education back ground. It's all about attitude, not the 'ATA', doctorate or age.

Next time when they stop you at check point, don't give them any of your personal belongings such as cigarette or chocolate. I am sure you would refuse any illicit demand right at the place and you know your rights as a citizen since you are much educated than these 'ATA PASS' soldier. If you need further action against these soldiers, don't hesitate to report to their supervisors. They can't neglect your complaints.

If you obey the law, they have to obey you.
