JVP not against Norway, leaves decision to President
Friday, 25 November 2005 - 1:51 AM SL Time

The JVP yesterday said they were not opposed to Norway`s role in the peace process but were against their unnecessary interference with the country`s affairs. They added that it was up to President Mahinda Rajapakse to decide whether Norway was wanted or not.

Peoples Liberation Front (JVP) leader Somawansa Amerasinghe was answering a question, on Norway`s future role, at media briefing held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute auditorium

He said the JVP did not need any Ministerial Portfolios as their agreement was with President Rajapakse and not his party or Alliance which they quit on June 15.

`We are not against the CFA but what we are against is a one-sided agreement which grants the LTTE the right to kill and conscript children forcibly. We will sit independently in the ranks of the opposition and fulfil our obligations by supporting President Rajapakse, to the hilt, to carry forward his programme spelt in the Mahinda chinthanaya. The victory of President Rajapakse goes further to falsify the myth that a powerful organisation such as the UNP cannot be defeated. One could say that President Rajapakse had to swim upstream against the tide of forces within his own party, who were working for his defeat.` he said

He said the JVP had fulfilled its first obligation of working towards the victory of President Rajapakse and they were now looking forward to his fulfilling the 12 conditions put forward by them aimed at unity and economic development of country and people.

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva, Kalutara District Leader MP Nandana Goonetilleke and former Minister Vijitha Herath were also present at the briefing.

Amerasinghe said they welcomed the dawning of realisation by the UNP, at least now, that the LTTE should be proscribed by the European Union.

`We vehemently condemn the LTTE actions to deny the people of the North and the East their franchise but we believe that the LTTE had been unable to prevent as a whole the Tamil people in the East from voting. We would support the establishment of democratic rights of all people in the country including the Tamil people in the North and the East. We are a principled party as in the past when one follows the past history of the JVP we have always sacrificed benefits we could have enjoyed for the sake of the people and even now we are willing to make further sacrifices on behalf of people and country. We believe that the report of EU observer mission would be taken into consideration in proscribing the LTTE.`

Amerasinghe said the JVP was not at all against the private sector as they believed that the country should have a strong private sector as well as a strong government sector.

Norway's biases are they have a block vote of tamils and the church influences any decisions taken by the NOrwegian politicians.

According to their constitution, 50% of Norway's MPs should be christian which is a form of discrimination.

AS long as Norway just involve only in solving the LTTE problem their support should welcome.

GOSL always should be careful about interpreting what NOrway says and what NOrwegians are doing in Sri Lanka.

That's exactly what we need from JVP. Give room for Mahinda to work and watch his back all the time. Don't play in to the hands of LTTE.

JVP is getting clever. JVP wants to caress Mahinda, twitch his moustache to invigorate him; as well as play games with him.

JVP is the Misery that Mahinda invited than LTTE that he inherited.

This is a BLODDY joke that ONLY the Punnakky eating Four legged once will believe.

Everyday its a NEW thing. One day they are against norway and go on protest burning norwegian flags. The next day its upto Motta Rala to decide.

One day its 'de-merge' the north east. Today its let Rajapassa decide.

Who are they trying to FOOL????????? The ONLY people they are FOOLing are their BRAINLESS supporters.

The JVP is trying to make a virtue out of necessity. They have no option but pretend to support Percy. If they make even a murmur, back to general elections and the 39 will go to 10. The trouble with Sri Lanka is it has too many patriots and people who 'care' about its welfare. Hope some of these will be got rid of; then others can get on with their lives.

I can only re-post one of earlier postings.

QTE

He will relaize very soon or he knew even before he promised that he can't deliver his promises. It was just to cheat the 'game miniha' and get his vote.It will dawn on him very soon that the hoenymoon was over as soon as his lection victory was announced.

He very well know that he can't go back to WAR. the hardline approach was a election strategy to fool the Sinhala Buddhists masses. He will not even dream about cancelling the CFA. He will make a little noice initially knowing that in two weeks time the Southern majority will forget about his promises. He will first give concessions on the budget and then prices will go up like what happened during the current regime.

Welcome Back to the repeat perfomance of the Sanadanaya Circus Edited By - Christy - 22 Nov 2005 11:21:28 GMT

JVP is not against Norway.
JVP is not against Ranil too.
According to the JVP, Ranil is the BEST 'leader' for the UNP.
Anti JVP Rajitha is trying to ouster Ranil.
Cheers

CBK had three hour long secret talk with Ranil, yesterday night. May be a deal to oust Mahinda or how about claiming the leadership of UNP if Ranil wishes to quit?
